Fantastic job on the cosplay, I cam across this while looking for references for my own Litchi cosplay.
I'm having trouble with the hairpieces (Lao Jiu and the yin/yang symbol) but the rest of it's been alright.
I'm wondering how you went along making yours?

Thank you for the compliment! ^_^ For Lao Jiu, are you stuck on the actual bear or just how to get him to stay in the hair? Because to keep him in the hair, I wrapped a small piece of styrofoam in wig fibers then stitched Lao Jiu to that. All of that (with the ponytail attached too) was then attached to the base of the wig.
As for the yin-yang, I took a styrofoam disc and covered it in craft foam to get the right colors. That keeps it light weight so it doesn't pull the rest of the wig too much.

Ah, I was stuck on how to keep the yin-yang on the hair. And I guessing you sewed yourself a Lao Jiu? That's what I'm probably going to do. Good job on it, really. It's the best looking Lao Jiu I've seen on a Litchi cosplay, and it's really accurate.
Also, thanks. The yin-yang was really confounding me. I didn't know how to make it or keep it on.

Yeah, I did sew Lao Jiu. Proportioning it was a pain, but it was pretty basic overall (lot of basic shapes). For keeping the yin yang in the hair, I actually glued it to the hair extensions I used for the ponytail, then added some separate hair extensions at the bottom.

/le months later
Thank you for the help! I ended up making the yin-yang out of foam discs with craft foam over it to give it a smoother look and then I painted it. I like to think it ended up coming out pretty well, though I realized quickly that it's the one part of the costume that tends to get left out of pictures....oh well. Regardless, I appreciate it!

No problem! I'm glad it worked out for you! And even though I can't see the yin-yang, the rest of your Litchi does look great! ^^

Thank you! I actually placed in my first cosplay contest with it! Couldn't have done it without the advice of like, 3 or 4 people who had cosplayed Litchi before.

I see. I'm not too keen on glueing the ponytail extension I have for my wig, but I suppose that I'll have to officially consider it an option.
I ended up making two Lao Jius--I sewed one and I made one out of model clay. The one made out of clay actually turned out pretty well, so I'm probably going to use him.
Oh goodness, I called it a he.

Thank you! As far as the ponytail goes, it was a lot of trial by fire. I just glued tiny clumps of extensions together then sewed (is that a word??) the extension clumps to the base wig. ;_; I'm sorry I can't be more helpful. I'm terrible at describing how I do things.

i'd invite you out to one X3
you'd win easily compared to what i've seen of the cosplayers out here. but we're in deep south texas and we can't really expect much yet.
good luck tho!
