I love this show. This is the first series that I watched that got me hooked onto animΓ© as a genre, and is the most MANIC show in existance, I think. Hilarious and sweet, the characters are all loveable and addictive, especially the leads! I was hooked. Then, I read the 10-volume manga, and promptly fell in love with it and bought the whole thing. The genius in Kodomo no Omocha, I think, is the ingenius blend of innocence, mania, and ... I suppose, heartbreaking seriousness. As much as I was entertained, there was this underlying... I don't know what to call it really, naive maturity? This *depth* to it; its no candy floss story. Its incrediby fun, incredibly sweet, incredibly artless, and also, surprisingly, incredibly sophisticated. Fans of this title who truly get it, are not just from the shoujo stream. Yeah, it sucks that there isn't that much out there by way of fandom. But, I think that fandom and exposure in the form of media (i.e. pictures) is often linked to media technology of the time; KODOCHA, a fabulous as it is, was first released in '96, and it was only 10 books (as opposed to more recent, longer series, like the shoujo 21-book KARE KANO or 30+ BLEACH) and the anime was one of those that, including fillers [ugh], only caught up to the manga during the main part of its popularity and reknown, and stopped there (a lot of animes are like that). Which sucks for us fans. We'll only be able to reread/-watch and remember it fondly in our memories.
(Yes...."fondly".....that's the word........or is it.........I think its a bit too tame, eh?

Yes, "fondly" doesn't quite describe it. <3 Kodocha's a lot deeper than your conventional anime/manga, which is what I love about it. Obana's a genius, I swear; not only does Sana's life represent how I see life (chaos and humor mixed with drama), but like. Obana also talked about how she got attatched to her characters the way I do. So it's like. Triple-relating -- to the story, to the characters, and to the author.
I can count on one hand how many other fandoms that I've connected with in that way.
