Description Cat Lady (literally)
I'm not a genius in nahuatl language =B, this is a bit old artwork, from last april.

This is my contribution for 's Charity Artbook, I'm so glad to be part of this book, and all entries look so amazing that I'm a bit ashamed of now doing something as awesome as them

I never did something prehispanic related, it was so fun to play drawing the jaguar, ocelot, axolotl and quetzal, proudly mexicans! I wondered how Mexico would be today without being conquered by Spain (A major chaos, you shouldn't keep animals that big in that room!)

I really liked my drawing, but just after sending it to print it, I didn't like the composition, hahaha too much dead space in the upper part =S

I think the fact of not being conquered would destroy the enemies of the aztec empire

México is diverse, Purépecha in Michoacán, Mixteco/Zapoteco in Oaxaca and Maya in Yucatán Not only Nahua/Aztec in whole country...

In fact, México would be shorter than actually is because the Aztec empire was only in center

Spain helped a lot all the indigenous cultures in whole México

Great art, by the way, i love it

Wrong! Mexico is in the state it is right now thanks to the Spanish invasion, after the destruction of its ceremonial centers, being robed and slaughtered, the Natives (indigenous is a wrong term, born from the word Indian) were enslaved and forced to adopt a foreign religion and language... just saying.

Yeah...

But nothing of those things were made for real That was a silly thing which the another empires made all people believe, the "leyenda negra".

If we see the laws in which the New Spain was made, they actually were very good for the indigenous peole

And "indigenous" or "indians" is a correct term The continent in that times was called "Indias occidentales" in Spanish or in english "West indies"

Until the XIX siècle was changed the name

About the religion, many of the indigenous people were OK with that because the catholic religion was about "be good with your friends and too with your enemies".

The Spanish people only arrived to help the slaves of the Aztec empire destroy them. Besides, the aztec religion always wanted kill people, and the christian nope, so then, all the indigenous people wanted to convert to the catholic religion.

When million of people did that, that amazed the european people and the Pope of that time forbade the Spanish people to slave them because they could understand who was "the true god".

Besides, the Queen, Isabel Iª of Castille made a royal decree which said: "Spaniards must marry with the indies' woman and the male indigenous with the spanish women".

Nobody forced the fact of adopt a foreign religion (only the aztecs were angry about that), and since then and in now days, many most-native culture are very catholic.

The genocide of the indigenous culture started after the independence and little First Mexican Empire (1821) and since the First Mexican Republic (1824) until the "Law of protection of the indigenous languages and culture" (1994), their culture and languages were tried to kill many times

But I keep saying i like the drawing

You clearly are an Hispanista... I see how much you love spain from what you write, sadly that also reflects your ignorance on the matter.

First spaniards where severely abusive to the natives, and what we now know as America (continent) had many names before the invaders appeared, for example, what is now Mexico was called Cem Anahuac "the one world" the fact that the natives did not call themselves "indians" ( and still don't) shows how wrong you are about that.

About the religion... did you not read my previous comment? hahaha seriously, the natives where forced ( they were physically and emotionally hurt until they converted) they did not want the invaders religion, they still don't.

The "aztecs" (as you wrongfully continue to call them... the correct name is MEXICA) did not have slaved nations under them, they had commercial treaties and they became powerful because they had the man power to travel to far away lands to trade. The Mexica religion was one of spirituality and self improvement, the human sacrifices up to today are only a myth, it has not been proven to be a fact, and as for Christianity... the only thing that they did was kill under the excuse that it was "Gods" comand, do you know about the crusades? the Genocide they committed in the Americas happened when the spaniards came, they did not care to preserve the natives, they wanted land and gold, nothing more.

You must live under a rock!... You clearly are not Mexican... (if you are I feel bad for your ignorance) I have studied the history of my country for two decades, I know facts, you seem to know some sort of "painted pink" version told by the invaders..... all the things that you said make me laugh.

Yeah, i'm an hispanista

*reads all*

Oquey... let's see this... ¿Have you readed the "Brevísima relación de la destrucción de las Indias"? or even the royal decrees of the Spanish empire under all the viceroyalties?

And about "Aztecs", they had many names, even "Mexicas/Mejicas", and the current one for the ethnia in México is "Nahua"

...

*sigh*

Seriously... You can't deny the fact of the sacrifices, and the "spirituality and self improvement", ¿Do you know that is an occidental thing? That wasn't even know until the 1900 and the persons who tried to save the "native" culture until the revolucionary and pre-revolucionary period in México

Anyway. I am Méxican, i don't know where you say i am not

I speak Spanish, Náhuatl and many other little languages.

I've read many books of both sences, and honestly i see many errors in the story when "the bad spaniards destroyed the americas"... That's not true... The facts speaks for their own.

The most pure indigenous in the current country are the most catholic people in México, many traditions of the indigenous people and more are not only Spanish, but Hispanic... the most common mexican traditions appears in whole Spanish América, Equatorial Guinea and the Philippines.

I've readed many laws from the Spanish empire and clearly and obviously México and all the Américas and East Indies weren't a colony.

The indians, the mestizos, castiços, criollos and mulatos had representation in the courts and in theyr territories, things that the US, Brazil or the another colonies didn't had in their mother countries.

... And actually, this isn't funny I mean, maybe you laugh because you don't know the other side of the story, good day

Interesting... you say you are Mexican? well then, you are part of the people that love kissing Spaniards asses, what a shame. Just like those people that are catholic in Mexico, they think that their religion came from Spain but in reality it is from the middle east, that is how much they really know. Also, self improvement was not restricted to occidental countries, that is how much you really know about the Meshikas (that is actual pronunciation).

You must have your head inside a hole in the ground, the Spaniards did nothing to save anyone but their country and their king from going broke. Cortes himself said it, he and his men had an "illness" of the heart that can only be cured with gold, do you know what that is called? its called greed.

It is funny because you think you know facts but all you know are lies and wrong information, I bet you anything that your sources are all spaniards, now for someone who reads a lot your orthography is terrible, I would not mind switching to spanish, that way I can school you really good.

Jordytheredfox In reply to Oce02 [2015-10-28 20:04:35 +0000 UTC]

¿Do you know Spanish? I would like more to talk in it if i'm talking with a Méxican

Anyway, let's behave like both adults, please

Ok...

Look, the catholic church is from Papal States being geografically correct, but was created by palestinian-jews who left the country and went to the Roman empire and things, that's not my hard topic

Anyway, it's "mexicas" pronounced like "mejicas", you know i'm studying the mexican dialect and nahuatl language and for true the "x" have the "j" sound in many words considering that the "sh" sound doesn't exist in Spanish, or at least not showed at all in the orthography

But let's see, you said "you are part of the people that love kissing Spaniards asses", well, i'm proudly a mestizo from a Zapotec indigenous from my mother and Spanish side from my father, i love many cultures of México and i'm learning Nahuatl, Maya, Zapotec and Otomí along with Cathalan, Vasque and Gallego

I'm only talking about the correct information, if you don't believe it, i don't have problems with that:

First: México didn't existed in that time, it was only Maya countries, Azteca Empire, Zapotec and Mixtec countries and the Purépecha empire.

Second: México was created along with the Spanish and indigenous culture in 1531 and next years.

Third: Spanish people didn't killed a lot of indigenous people, that were themselves when the maya, tlaxcallan, purépecha (natural enemy of aztecs) and local tribes attacked the Aztec empire along with like ~300 Spanish men?

Fourth: The Spanish, French and more or less the Portuguese people created laws protecting the Indigenous people, I'm totally sure if you SEEK for them, you will find them and you will read more than magazines, newspaper or the little books of the goverment

Fifth: The Spanish crown didn't stealed ALL the aurum, that were the English people when all countries were independized. Besides, all countries non-catholic did the genoside and killed all the natives: (Just look USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia; Specially look for Australia).

Anyway, my orthography in english is indeed bad, but i speak many languages more than only it, sorry if that bothers thee

But i still saying, greetings and have a nice day

And that animal has a secret: The fountain of youth

And one more secret: the recovery of paralysis and recovery of body parts.

As people without arms or feet
That people who lost their feet or arms, could recover for themselves in the future

Scientists try to unravel the mystery of how to do it, but now that animal is in danger there are only a few in Mexico

Sin exagerar.....this is one of the most beautiful illustrations and "imaginings" of what the Aztec world would be today, that I have ever seen!!  I wish you could do a series of what other pre-hispanic nations (Olmec, Zapotec, Mayan, etc) would be like in this imaginary historical tangent... Make twelve of them and you got an amazing calendar that EVERY MEXICAN including me would love to buy and give away as present!!  Awesome Art, I just became a fan!
