messin' around with a two-tone poster i did for Audio Addiction (...without any informative pretentions). . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

cuz some people seem to have a little problem with the unreadable text, ill do some explanation.
In march 2004 i did some graphic- and webdesign for a techno event in Amsterdam. It contained a duotone A1 poster, a website, a flash teaser, an A6 flyer and entrance tickets. The idea
was to inform the public about the event, so this was a specific goal in my work. When i finished the A1 poster at 9 in the morning (it was hell... the poster finally consisted of just two seperate illustrator objects, one magenta and one black), i treated myself on a beer and another 30 minutes before bedtime. I took both objects into ps and started messin with it. Without any informative pretentions.some of my original designs for this event:

I love this so much. I dont really care that it is barely readable i love it just the way it is. I love typography I think its absolutly fantastic. I love the tones and shapes youve created. keep up the work.

Would be so easy to slip in some info about a possible concert AND make it readable.

If it's a poster you made for an event you can very easely put the info in there, and just adding that little info would make this "creation" a great poster with character, style AND information.
For now to me it's a work in progress at best.

About the emboss. Seen it, hate it. But its not emboss. When i draged the 2 illustr object in the lo-res psd file, it seemed that one of the objects was rastered 1 px bigger than the other. I didnt noticed this untill i saved it for web. I tried correcting it afterwards but it seemed to be more difficult than i thought. Cuz i didnt feel like doin it over, i left it this way.
About visual communication. It is impossible not to communicate. Even when something doesn't seem to communicate, it communicates the fact that its doesnt do this. This ofcourse also works for visual communication. When you recieved and decoded my 'message', worked out as in Untitled 20, something went wrong. You might have the idea that text and character only live by their basic function (providing information), and not as a visual identity on its own. This idea effects your opinion (just looks cool) and behavour (no interest). Because i already worked constantly for a few days on designing information without losing its visual character i feld the need for a break. Hi-speed graphic design without a written message, just communicating the thing that this font seperates from all the others. Its cool shape.

I really like how it's two-tone. I love the way you are using text in this piece. The choas of everything is really great! I tihnk someone already said it but the text that you actually want people is hard to read. Other than that great work.

this piece contains text in a illustative form, its not my intention people read it. The original A1 poster (im currently working on), i messed around with, is still readable...

great design, excellent colours, but i definitely agree ~nerdyscenester if the text needs to be read, then it should be a consistent colour.

It looks really cool, just the text that you want the person to read is hard to. Might want to consider revising that. Really good though.
