Shots of the town taken on Tues, June 10th, showing the water climbing... The next day we had torrential rain and downtown was submerged...The city courthouse, situated on May's Island, smack in the middle of the river. Our town is one of 2 in the world who has it's city seat situated on an island...
Current Status: Water is up to the tops of the first floor windows. May's island is completely evacuated and the city government has established itself in temporary quarters.

I hear ya, it's kinda hard not to get choked up when you go downtown... They're starting cleanup and the sidewalks are nothing but mountains of debris and mud... Everyone is out gawking and generally being a complete nuisance that aren't involved in cleanup efforts, so it kinda makes you sick too...

Update: as of Thursday night/ Friday morning, the bridges were completely submerged.
