Description "stop complaining about people shipping friends of the same gender!"
i really hate people who bitch about others shipping two friends or leading characters who happen to be the same gender wailing that "they're not gay!" "stop trying to make everything gay!" but then when a GUY and a GIRL are nothing more than "just friends" they squeal "omg they're meant to be!!!!<3" "i hope that they become a canon pairing!!!! <3"
1. people are going to ship whatever they want.
2. most of the times these characters are never actually confirmed to be heterosexual.
3. PEOPLE CAN HAVE HEADCANONS OR AU'S Y'KNOW.
i'm not trying to hate on straight ships (i like several straight ships) but i'm tired of these people (who sometimes happen to be homophobic and/or heterosexist) whining about people pairing two male or female friends but don't care if male and female friends/leading characters are shipped together.

Never mind they don't seem to care when you ship friends of the OPPOSITE gender. Using

My OCs Téa Ivy Remember (a bi skeledemon girl) and Krista Bruse (a pan nymph girl) were originally just BFFs, but I decided to change that and make them girlfriends instead because I think they'd be absolutely adorable together.

Finally a stamp describing how I feel regarding the double standard of shipping same gender friends and opposite gender friends .

I hate when people bust out the “Why can’t two men or women be friends? Why do you always have to make it gay?” as though the media is just oversaturated in gay rep and there aren’t solid and healthy same-gender friendships in probably about 75% of media out there.

Not to mention that that question is something commonly said by (straight, usually cis) people toward gay rep in shows or being pushed to be allowed to be explicitly gay rep, staff supporting a gay ship, and as if a lot of queer people producing queer content such as art and original literature/fics aren’t shipping gay pairings and it’s all 100% just straight people fetishizing us. Interestingly, a lot of the people who pull this never do this to straight pairings no matter how badly written or shoehorned they are as a relationship (we know why)! Like, you gotta understand why so many of us cringe when people ask this, even if you do ask out of genuine curiosity.

Omg thankyou! Even with characters that have been portrayed to show attraction to one gender, people will argue the character is completely straight. It annoys me so much, because they forget that bi and pansexuality exist. In some cases are aware, but will say unless proven otherwise their straight for now. Like who died and made you the creator. As you mentioned a majority of fictional character's sexualities are never stated, so how do they know their straight.

True. Even if they're dating an opposite-sex character in the show/book/whatever, you can't rule out that they're bi or even that they're simply feeling pressured to fulfill societal expectations.

I generally ship people who are close friends, most of the time they are the same gender but I just like the idea of a relationship not only being all about romance and sex but also about friendship and being able to have fun around each other.

I want to marry this stamp. Finally a stamp that reflects how I feel about this fandom double standard regarding het vs queer pairings

I hate when people bust out the “Why can’t two
men or women be friends? Why do you always have to make it gay?” as though the media is just oversaturated in gay rep and there aren’t solid and healthy same-gender friendships in probably about 75% of media out there.

Not to mention that that question is something commonly said by (straight, usually cis) people toward gay rep in shows or being pushed to be allowed to be explicitly gay rep, staff supporting a gay ship, and as if a lot of queer people producing queer content such as art and original literature/fics aren’t shipping gay pairings and it’s all 100% just straight people fetishizing us. Interestingly, a lot of the people who pull this never do this to straight pairings no matter how badly written or shoehorned they are as a relationship (we know why. I can see y'all)! Like, you gotta understand why so many of us cringe when people ask this, even if you do ask out of genuine curiosity.

If they whine this question and sealion over and over to us when there’s a canon gay relationship let alone any gay content within a fandom space made by queer people about how two people of the same gender can’t just be friends these days when they could instead just ignore us,they’re the asshole and you know there’s a 90% chance the sanctity of friendship isn’t the real concern, they just hate seeing us in and consuming your favorite media.

"Marry your best friend" is a true statement, but some problems arise with people shipping two friends of the same sex.

  • They oftentimes complain that a man and a woman can't just be friends
  • They ship two friends of the same sex in a series that has NEVER, EVER had a homosexual character
  • Most of these same sex pairings are illogical
  • If it makes sense to ship them, then by all means, ship them. But if you see two friends of the same sex, and think, like, OMG HE TOLD HIS FRIEND THAT HE LIKED HIS SHIRT THERE DURING THAT INSANELY SPECIFIC TIME AND DIDN'T MENTION IT AGAIN, then you need to get your freakin' head checked imo.

THIS. It's also dumb when they hate on gay ships because "they're always OOC", when many M/F shippers are just as guilty of making their ship OOC as F/F and M/M shippers. Don't even get me started on the obvious creepy ones.

    ikr like
these people are probably guilty of loving when male and female lead character are forced into a romnatic relationship ._. it's so tiring and they claim they have no issues with gay/lesbian but clearly have a problem or are uncomfortable when two of the same gender are paired together.

Many of them use the more extreme cases, like the insane yaoi/yuri fans who ship incestous/pedophilic ships as arguments against same-sex ships, failing to realize that there are many same-sex shippers who're against those kinds of ships as well as the fact that there are plenty of M/F shippers who are guilty of shipping such ships themselves. Or they use the examples when yaoi/yuri shippers bash on characters that are the opposite sex of either partner, while failing to realize that many het shippers are just as guilty of hating a male/female character simply for "getting in the way of" their ship. Even with crossovers, it's the same shit. I've seen same-sex crossover ships bashed simply for being gross regardless of how "logical" said ship was, yet many straight ships in the same league or even worse receive praise or less hate, and same with ships within the same series too. I've seen plenty pull the "THINK OF THE CHILDREN", "THEYRE NOT GAY OR CANON" or "U RUINED MY CHILDHOOD" excuses on people who draw M/M or F/F ships regardless of whether said shipwork was SFW or otherwise, yet vehemently defend M/F ships that are portrayed either way (Especially graphic NSFW M/F works) or denying that a character who had attraction to the same sex (be it gay or bi) was like that in the first.  Oh and let's no forget the straight self-inserts who try to date or lewd underaged characters while throwing other fans and characters under the bus, yet only acknowledging himejoshi or fujoshi who do this crap.  Hell, I've seen people who had an LGBT OC or OC x OC pair that were accused of being Mary Sues and fetishists right off the bat without said critic looking at their work, yet there are straight OCs or OC x OC ships that are poorly written/designed that get a pass.

    same tho
heterosexist het shippers are so annoying
forcing male and female main characters to be romantically together and act like platonic relationship/friendship don't exist between a guy and a girl? totally fine!

finding two friends who happen to be the same gender cute together and ship them? "they're just friends!!! two boys/girls being friends doesn't mean they're gay!!!!! stop ruining friendship!!!!!"
