Description It's that time again when I draw up some of the characters from my story that's never going to get written, High Breed, and ramble about them at length.

These three are all part of the Falborne family. Maybe some of you remember that I put up a poll a while back asking which you preferred as the spelling of that surname. Well, Falborne won that poll and I'm kind of glad that it did, so that's what I'm going for with this lot.

From left you have Bernard Falborne (grandfather), Mirim Falborne (mother) and Amelia Falborne (daughter).

So... who are these people and what do they have to do with my other OCs?

In some of the other descriptions I may have mentioned Queen Aleena as the sole remaining Sonic character that I hadn't yet replaced or written out of my series from back when they were all Sonic OCs. Well, now we have Queen Mirim. She's basically going to replace Aleena in my stories, so anything written concerning Aleena in the previous descriptions switch to Mirim instead. Honestly, it's kind of a relief. I love Aleena, I really do, but there are times when I needed her character to... not be sympathetic for my story. So having my own character instead means that I can write Mirim as unsympathetic as I want without feeling bad about making her OOC.

As for the other two, they're also actually replacement Sonic characters, but kind of less obviously so than Mirim is. You see, when I was going through the "house cleaning" of creating Mirim I realised two things - I didn't need any other characters connected to Aleena (such as her canon family) and that I had two royal families (Hedgehogs and Acorns) just because that's how it was in my Sonic musings, not because I actually needed two of them. However, I did need to fill the role of Mirim's father and Sally was still pretty useful to the story, so I figured, "Why not kill two birds with one stone?" Thus, we now just have one royal family, with Bernard acting as a replacement for King Maximillian, as well as being Mirim's father, and Amelia acting as a replacement for Sally, as well as Mirim's daughter. Sort of an odd turn of events.

I figure these three aren't the only royalty on the still unnamed planet that I use for these stories, but they're probably the most influential and the only one I plan on dealing with in High Breed for the moment. Also, they're supposed to be chinchillas. I KNOW THIS ISN'T VERY CLEAR BECAUSE CHINCHILLAS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FAT, BUT THEY ARE.

And now let's get to the long rant about how they fit into the story:

To give a brief overview (more detail can be found in previous OC pictures), on the planet where these guys live it's considered wrong for anthros outside of each other's animal species to breed with one another. However, it does happen, creating hybrids who are viewed as freaks to society. To keep these "freaks" seperate and controlled they were hunted down and cast away to a pocket dimension that was set to explode then rebuild itself after a cycle of roughly thirty-forty years.

Moving to how these three fit into it, we'll start with Bernard. During the time Bernard was king, he had an unfortunate run. Being a man of blind tradition he supported the exile and murder of hybrids, but it was under his rule that at the time when the hybrid's home was due to finish it's cycle and explode the hybrids managed to disable the device that blew up their "planet" and made it very clear that if anyone wanted to blast them to pieces that they were going to have to get past them in order to do it first. This was a huge setback for the purebreds, as they'd done a good job of covering up the actual culling part of the exile in the past and now they didn't have free reign to just dump their "waste citizens" off in another dimension anymore. Without anyone to "control" the population, hybrids became more widespread on both planets. There was one time after this when the hybrids already residing in the pocket dimension did try to come back to the main planet briefly, but Bernard retained his dignity enough to fight them off back to where they came from. It was during this struggle that Nan was killed, prompting a change in Phoenix's character.

After such a fruitless reign the people were reluctant to trust Bernard, so he officially retired from his position as king, allowing his daughter Mirim to take the throne. She was much more in-favour in the eyes of the people, but was really just a figurehead to act out Bernard's will. She was too mild-mannered to think against him, combined with her upbringing being surrounded by the anti-hybrid beliefs that were held in high regard at the court. At some point, she went for an arranged marriage to another chinchilla anthro under her father's instructions and produced an heir, Amelia. I'm not sure what happened to Mirim's husband, perhaps he died of illness or in a battle, perhaps he just left, but whatever the reason he doesn't turn up in the story and leaves Mirim as a widow.

Amelia is left to be raised in an atmosphere quite different to that of her mother's. While still subjected to the beliefs of the court, she is surrounded by a changing world - there are many more hybrids now and people are starting to see that they're no different to anyone else. Not only is the exile not possible now, but there are many people campaigning for hybrids to have the same rights as purebreds. Just talking about this sort of thing is harmless (although frowned upon), so there's not very much the police can do to stop those who aren't violently protesting. Being the little tomboy that she is, Amelia (or Lia as she prefers to be known as) would often sneak down to listen to pro-hybrid protestors as a child. She was very much won over by their words and as she got older started to realise exactly how much the family that she was born into was the enemy of this new freedom she'd grown to want. And so she ran away from home, choosing to live amongst the rebels.

Now the rebels don't know how to feel about this. On one hand they have a girl who supports them and on the other hand they have a member of the royal family who would make an excellent hostage. More on that hopefully in the next character sheet (if it ever happens XD), which will deal with a few of the rebels. I'll just say that Mirim does have a friend similar to her own age amongst the group who does try to defend her.

Then we move onto the second war, where the hybrids from the pocket dimension again try their luck to take down the purebreds. This time they find out that they do have people on their side on the main planet and combine forces with the rebels. It's during this war that the pocket dimension's detinator is reactivated and it is wiped out for good, causing much loss of life there. But now the people know about it. And the survivng hybrids are on the main planet to spread the word. There's very little the royal family can do to stop everyone from finding out what has happened all down the generations.

It's at this point that I assume Bernard probably kills himself, since he's unable to cope with the change and disgrace it's brought upon his name. But Mirim is still seen as a beloved figurehead and tries to pick up the pieces on her own. She vows to think for herself from now on (not that she has much choice since her father's dead) and tries to demonstrate that the Falbornes will cease to be as hostile towards hybrids as they had been in the past. And even though she knows that her daughter might not return to her, she is accepting of a (now older) Amelia's love for a man outside of her own species and realises it's important to marry for love and not circumstance, like her father had made her do.

Fate isn't that kind to Mirim though, and she is still seen as the spokesperson for the purebreds, a lot of whom still weren't ready for the change or to accept hybrids after generations of not doing so. Because of that much fighting and protesting went on, so Mirim's council reached a conclusion that to show unity between the two sides she should marry the person who was viewed as king of the hybrids, Phoenix. Both Mirim and Phoenix were mortified by this. They had gone through years of being on the opposite sides and detested each other personally. But they also both wanted to try to bring peace between their people, so agreed to go through with it. Therefore Mirim was thrust into a second marriage made for circumstance and not love, but this time both parties firmly knew that the marriage was just political. Mirim settled with the knowledge that she would never truly find love, but was content to know that her daughter had managed to find true happiness. Whereas Phoenix ignored his marriage to her entirely, though it was seen as the final block that stopped him being with his childhood sweetheart, Serenity.

That's all I'm going to bother ranting at you guys about for now. If any of you did bother to read this all then have a cookie. XD

Yay for cookies! XD Yes I read it ALL

I find it interesting really, that and I have been doing complete OC stuff. Though character sheets I am not sure of unless anyone has read what I have so far in the comic on Smackjeeves. Ok more of what characters show there but then again on DA people can be curious and I link to the comic even when that character has not shown yet but eh, it'll come but again been doing OC stuff and surprisingly no fan art yet I joined a Secret Santa thing on y!gallery that is Hetalia themed.

[link]

That would be the cover that I made for one chapter but eh, no rush, whenever you find the time it's fine. On that has a link in the description but eh just to show something I have done recently (though that was posted in October but still)

*enjoys her cookie*
