The "Second Industrial Revolution" began in the second half of the 21st century, Humanity finally started to utilize resources from space, thus generating incredibly high productions for almost no cost. More and more companies switched to cheaper resources from space, until the old technologies were abandoned. Humanity prospered, it grew hungry and greedy, creating more gigantic industrial factories producing merely everything fully automated.

Until 70 years ago

After multiple Failed attempts to launch the new hyperheavy space factories, it was no longer possible to continue the space industry.
We created so much debris in the thermosphere that we ultimately killed the future progress for the next thousands of years
This led to catastrophic fallback of the markets resulting in worldwide Economic collapse followed by famine and decay of Institutionalised governance.
The Humans that survived live now in small communities in the shadows of industrial monuments living of scrapping the materials for living around the globe
