cool one, very ominous, I love it.
I'm undeiced as to whether the not-straightness of the tree adds to it or annoys me... But I do love this shot

The tree itself wasn't straight, so I decided to leave it in its natural position.
Thanks for the comment.

This is some excellent work.
I like the choice of colors, and in contradiction to StarOfDavid's sentiment, I think the angle of the tree actually strengthens the photo.
The one glaring problem I see is a result of all the tweeking you did. There's a very noticable, high contrast border around the tree. It's particularily noticable on the left side of the trunk. Closer attention to this would improve the photo in my opinion (though even as-is I had to give it a +fav).

But the tree was not straight!
Thanks for the comment.

I placed the light part there intentionally. I'm glad that you like it this way.
Thanks for the comment.

Wow, itβs difficult to believe you only did some adjustments because the sky looks so mystical. I love the complexity of the tree before the vivid background; each would be not what it is without the other. The tree almost glows before the sky. It seems like an image a fantasy novel would conjure in oneβs mind. That is the kind of place I would like be buried. Favorite from me.

Well "some" is a relative term, of course.
The clouds were there as they look like in the shot, of course. I just enhanced the effect and toned it.
I made it monochrome in the channel mixer, added this color to it by changing the hue (colorize mode) and used "apply image..." (Multiply Blending) to add to the darkness. And contrast adjustments. That's all!

I wish we could edit our posts as I forgot to say: If I could favorite this piece a hundred times to forward it into the top-notch category, I would.

Regardless of the number of adjustments, it is still a beautiful piece. :] I personally believe it deserves a Daily Deviation. It really belongs in the category of top-notch photos. Two favorites is almost an insult.
