Description This is Hataya, a Fila Brasileiro puppy. She's 9 weeks old and a total sweetheart! I melted when I met her - velvet fur and a beautiful little face.

I've only met a handful of Filas and they have all been friendly, but this breed is said to be one of the most dangerous in the world. Or should I say one of the most guarding breeds in the world. They belong to their pack and their pack belongs to them. Outsiders are outsiders and will not be accepted.

I am fascinated by dogs like this. They are certainly not easy to have in todays sociaty, but it would be a shame if they would disappear like so many other breeds have...

Beautiful puppy! I remember the first day I saw my dog, she was so small...now she weighs around 120lbs and is tall as I am when she stands up. It is amazing how quickly they grow.

Yes, it happens too fast. They should be small for a hole year and THEN start to grow That would be perfect!

I know! Sheila could fit into my hands when she first came to life with us, now I would put my back up to try and pick her up. By eight months I think she was close to 80 pounds. But they are so cute when they are small!

I agree with your comments on Filas. AMAZING dogs, and while *NOT* a breed for everyone, and not SAFE for most households (such as many visitors/in town), for the right home, they are a needed breed.

I hope the breed is never over publicized, and abused, as they can easily be very deadly in the wrong hands.

So very true. It's always a shame when people without enough knowledge get their hands on certain breeds... That is just disaster waiting to happen.
People never stop to amaze me - so many are unaware of this side of dogs, they think a dog is always a tailwagging happy puppy and seem unaware that some breeds are born to guard. Education to the masses is needed, but there is no interest in learning and that is the sad part...

The director of our dog school has the most successful kennel of Filas and Tosas in Europe (11 dogs all together) and as far as I'm concerned they are excellent guardians so logically very dangerous to the people who would want to hurt their masters or rob the house they're watching.

In the right hands and with an owner with alot of knowledge I am sure these dogs are great. If they get to do what they are bred to do, that is. Thanks for sharing this ^^

Hehe, I'd call that puppy Ricket (ex-Hawks member) if it was a male!

SaNNaS In reply to Dark-Utopia [2008-10-16 17:48:00 +0000 UTC]

Haha, nice name! But it feels like Ricket is too kind of a name for a dog of this breed. This one is more like a Griffith... Or maybe even a... FEMTO! Yes, I am not kidding!

I am actually getting grey hairs thinking of a name for my next dog (someday in the future). I would love a name from Berserk, but don't know which one since I already took the best one for Zodd.
Femto would be cool, but honestly I get scared just thinking about having both Zodd and Femto in my house O_o
Any suggestions?

Dark-Utopia In reply to SaNNaS [2008-10-16 17:56:32 +0000 UTC]

Hmm....Femto for a grey hair dog wouldn't be bad, but wouldn't exactly match because of that color. Like say Griffith's hair is kind light blue/white with that small purple that you see in contrast. But I'd just name it Griffith because of the fact that he turned himself into a human to disguise his demonic form. It's a given though. ;D

I'm thinking about getting myself a new pup. A siberian husky and naming him Gutts (the demonic wolf isatope or however it's spelled).

Oh, so many things to take into consideration. There is also Yubiku and I like that name (the floating GODHAND). Konrad is pretty cool as well, but I can't see that name on anything but a pug XD And I am not sure I want a pug just yet.

Hm, that name could work on a Siberian Husky ^^

I have one name in reserve but I'm sorry to say it's not from Berserk at all... Oda. It has a nice ring to it, right? Zodd and Oda (you know, the Japanese warlord from the 16th century - he was like Griffith for real)...

Oda sounds like a pretty cool name to me.

(is thinking about getting the Brand tattoo on my neck for having this obsession) XD

SaNNaS In reply to Dark-Utopia [2008-10-22 18:42:18 +0000 UTC]

Yes, Oda is a nice one ^^

Oh, if you get the brand you should really get it as "scarification" instead of a tattoo. It's sooo much cooler!

She's beautiful! The title though; they do get big fast! I have a picture of my father's boxer puppy sucking on my nose before he got even grew his baby teeth and in a flash he now takes up the whole back seat of my dad's jeep! Dogs are great and so pretty- do you bread Fila Brasileiro's?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SaNNaS In reply to BeccaKarr [2008-10-16 17:40:34 +0000 UTC]

You are right - the grow up way too fast. How I wished I could freeze time when my Zodd was a puppy.

No, I don't breed Fila Brasileiros. This puppy belongs to a friend of mine who lives far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Perfect place for a Fila I would say.
