Description Heh heh....... Sexy Wufei pic.

OK, did this for , who has given me the excuse to look at shirtless, muscular guys. Is it bad that the first thing I think when I see the reference pics is now, "Oh em gee, he's hot!", but, "Oh, I like the way his deltoid curves from the clavicle...that would be interesting to draw!" ? In any case, this was fun!

Anyway, this took longer than it would have otherwise, because I'm still trying to figure out how to use Photoshop and Manga Studio together (they don't like talking to one another >__< ) I'll figure it out eventually. I couldn't tell you why I put petals flowing around him.... and the staff is only because it was in the photo reference. I decided he was practicing with a bo staff because he is, so there. Hopefully, I'll get better at this with time.

Beautiful! So good that i Almost don't want to critic it. And in all honesty i can only see a few things that appears off to me- what the heck is going on with his shoulder blade? (o.0 It looks kind of painful.) and the tops of his shoulders, on the left arm it appears as if he has a mound of muscle directly on top of the joint in a slightly unnatural way. On the right it somewhat appears as if his arm has been dislocated. x.X

I hate writing anything even seemingly negative when it comes to your work as it's always so amazing T^T So please don't get me wrong when i do critic your work, I LOVE every piece (unless i out right say other wise) Consider it my way of doing my part to help you improve your own skills as an artist <3

Oh, don't worry about that! I'm quite happy to take critique, especially when so thoughtfully given. I may not always go back and change things, even when I think they ought to be changed, but that's more of a time-constraint issue than anything. Usually, I just have to move forward to the next thing, unless the commissioner wants something changed.

Now, on to the critique...believe it or not, the muscle, and the hard shadow surrounding it, looked exactly like this in the reference picture. Bulging deltoid, the near-impossible curve of the clavicle... However, the mere point that you looked and thought it didn't seem right means I should have altered it myself. One of the rules I learned is this: "Just because Nature did it, doesn't mean it'll look right on canvas" . This means that I should go back and do something to make this look more realistic. Even if the pull of the deltoid muscle on that side really was doing that, it looks wrong. I think softening the shadow a bit will turn the trick, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I've got to change it, because it's been bothering me non-stop ever since I first posted this thing. I just have a hard time trusting my own judgment in the face of photo reference >__<
