The black goo was covering half of Zeke's body by now, but I didn't care. Shyly I placed my hand on my favorite of his tattoos. The blue anchor with the rope wrapped around it that was on his right hip bone. His arm settled around my waist, even though he didn't really mean anything by it. "I want you to go back inside when that thing fully takes over." I looked at him. "But Zeke, we have to draw it out…" He shook his head. "Arianna, this thing is dangerous and it could get you next." I shrugged just as he started convulsing and fell off the hammock. I jumped off and ran for the house. 'It's happening." I called out to my sister from the open window. "Lock the doors and drop the sleep spell!" Everyone would be safer asleep, because the thing couldn't sense a human when it was asleep. I dashed back to Zeke as Missy put everyone in the house safely into dreamland. When I got back to Zeke, I saw that the Shadow had fully taken over and gone to the side of the house, trying to find a way in. I waved my hand and the clouds disappeared, allowing the full moon to once again cover the yard in semi-bright light. Missy wasn't the only enchantress in the family. The shadow stopped trying to get into the house and raised its head. "Zeke." I whispered softly, my heart swelling with love at the sight of him, even covered in the black goo. The shadow sensed my emotions and turned toward me. I knew I was putting myself in serious danger right now, but it didn't matter. I went to him, the evil creature that had swallowed the man I love. It hissed at me and in that hiss, like the sighing of the wind I could hear Zeke say, "No, go back inside." I shook my head firmly, and placed my hand on the face of the creature. My hand sunk in for a moment, the coal like substance shifting under my fingers before becoming solid again. "Arianna," it was like the wind sighing through the trees. "You are important to this human." My heart filled with hope. It was more of a confession then I had ever gotten from Zeke in the six years I had known and loved him.
