Description Been busy doing a bunch of other things and falling behind. But I got an email from Kano about a quick coloring piece. The image was clean enough so I figured why the hell not. Here's the end product. Anyways, back to work I go.

Drawing - Danny "Kano" Kimanyen

how long have you been colouring and working with the comic style?

I'd say probably around 3-4 years. The style I used for this pic was more or less just a progression fmor my older stuff. I tend to change styles depending on the style of the drawing.

yeah i'm just fliping around my style also, from toon to comic. also i find potoshop will take some time to play with. any tips to hone the comic style?

Save often. I'm still learning quite a bit myself. but generally I stick with pretty much just the basic tools and brushes. The tools will take some time to get used to as well. A drawing tablet is also a big help. I personally couldn't do it with a mouse.

Oh, also make sure the drawing you're working on is decent. If the linework is screwy, you'll just give yourself a big headache trying to figure out why it's not working.

Oh man, that's a tough one.. mainly because I'm never really crazy about any of my own work. I like how the scarecrow one turned out and this shy pic. Mainly because they're different looking. I also liked the Cud drawing for the mood it sets.

A little bit of everything. The ones that I get paid to do, I pretty much draw and color how they want. My own stuff comes from all over the place. I try to study everything.

Well, most of the stuff uploaded are paid work... not all though. My prices are pretty all over the place. I tend to adjust it based on how long I think the work would take.

I believe for a full blown commission (pencils, inks and colors) was around 350-400.

Saraquael In reply to alostknight [2005-08-14 18:08:28 +0000 UTC]

A little from all 3, as well as other independent titles. I generally buy in trade or hardcover form since I can't get to the comic shops regularly these days.

Nothing major yet. I colored the back cover for Iron Ghost #3... was supposed to be out this month, but not sure if it's out yet. I'm currently working on a title called Half-Dead that's being put out by Speakeasy Comics early next year. Currently halfway through coloring issue 2.

Yeah, that was nicely designed. I take no credit for that one though. The artist did a nice clean job which made my job a breeze.
