any hints or tips i want to learn pastels for portraits but hardly anyone does or teaches?? love this one by the way.

i love this pic, i haven't seen it in nat geo but i read it on their magazine,, this girl is now more or less 40 years old. try to paint her present pic,,this was the first photo had taken from her way back a couple of years ago.., the second was taken this year.

I think you shouldn't finish it and leave it the way it is. I love it. I would just make the white lines darker and make them different widths. Nice job

Very nice, but the scanned photo you uploaded of it pales the contrast and makes the image look too (for lack of a better word), chalky. You could tweak the contrasts of it to enhance the details. Either way, very, very nice drawing.

Yeah, I took a photo with a flash, and I think thats why it did that. When I finish it, I'll hopefully have a better version

I know the story ... I also know the photographer ... hehe he found her again because of her eyes and took a photo of how she looks now. I saw both photos recently so I recognized it

my old geography teacher bought a large printed photograph of this picture and hung it up in his classroom.... i swore it stared at me the entire semester.
