Well I have not read the Silmarillion yet, but there's so many pictures about the stories that I've seen, it seems to me like I'd already know it^^
I will read it after I finished my recent Tolkien book.
What I actually wanted to say is: I can feel the sad and heroic emotion of this pic and character, although I haven't read the book. And to create that is really really hard. Now you can blush^^

Reading the classic^^ Lord of the rings. But I'm always interrupted by boring school books we have to read in German and Englisch (although Macbeth is quite good..also sad and heroic^^). Have you read others of Tolkien, too? Like History of Middle Earth or Children of HΓΊrin?

Elves Do definetely ruel
Was too young to see them in cinema Didn't knwo what they were about yet, when they came out(yep, I'm regretting)
I know almost(only almost) all the lines by heart, and I'm always annoying people around me cause I'm quoting them whenever it fits.
Definately going to read Silmarillion afterwards!
Tolkien is really counterproductive in my preparing for the finals...
What should I read? Maths or Tolkien, Maths or Tolkien....Tolkien...TOLKIEN!!
Yes, I've seen the extended version from the beginng on. I once watched the cut version and really was like wtf....I know there is a scene...Why is it missing?? There were elves in this scene, nooo!
You know the "song" "they're taking the hobbits to Isengard"? [link]
At first time you're literally like wtf did I just watch? But after I don't know 10 times or such you just HAVE to laugh. From now to Every time you watch it again!
Wow, makes one crazy after sometime, but no matter how often I watch it, I always end up on the floor laughing.
I always sing that in my school with my friends (Tolkien fans, too, but not so much as I am, so they liked it. Thats it)
The one friend is Gollum, the other ones Celeborn, I'm the background music and we all together sing Legolas' part.
It makes you happy after every bad maths test

Thank you! It is terribly sad, yes. The whole battle...Fingon's death...Whenever I reread the Silm I usually cannot read the whole book, it's just too depressing.

The Nirnaeth Arnoediad and the Narn are two that always make me cry, even still after so long.

for me, it starts with Mandos' prophecy...when you know what's going to happen it just makes me so depressed, especially the "to evil ends shall all things turn that that begin well...". It is just so hopeless and tragic. And what the circumstances made of the characters, especially Maglor and Maedhros - two, in my opinion, very decent, good-hearted guys suffering the consequences of their oath till the bitter end. It always seemed to me that after Nirnaeth, after Fingon's death, Maedhros changed a lot. When I imagine how Fingon must have felt, waiting for Maedhros' army to arrive...gah, I don't want to think about it. Better to concentrate on the love and slash and....oh you know
