Description Ok, The hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, or THHGTTG, or HHGTG, or however you know it You may like it or not, but it has influenced a lot in... well, a lot of things. The Trillian program is the obvious one here, the online translator Babel Fish is another example... and if you start with the 42... the list is vast (check wikipedia ).

In the Heart of Gold (I'm not sure if that's the name in english), they had a kitchen that, when you put your face near a scanner, guessed what you wanted to ear and serves it to you in the very moment (unless you want tea, then you are doomed). I thought it would be a good idea for a FA draw Specially since... well, Zaphod is stupid and all that I obviously used the movie as a reference (Zooey Deschanel has beauuuuutiful eyes...), but mostly for the clothes (they are wearing the clothes that they wear the first time they are seen inside the spaceship), and there are a couple more references... I am so thankful Zaphod has the towels in that scene, I couldn't make a HHGTTG without including a (at least) towel

Nevermind the background, I tried to make a funny POV and failed But there IS a background, it's an advance from other of my pics

I just regret one thing: I didn't put the word "Belgium" (that in the american version of the books, and in the movie, is said that is the WORST word ever in the universe, it's so offensive it's vastly forbidden)... oh well, another time

See you

Very nice! Love the nods to the series, like zaphods stupidity and Marvin's pessimism. Not to mention the adorable bbw trillian...

You probably pictured her thin D:

I kid, I kid. I actually took a lot of "inspiration" from one of the outfits Zooey Deschanel is wearing in the HHGTTG movie [link]

In the book it said something about her having dark skin. She's an alien, so I pictured that she had purple skin.

I thought it could be something that was lost in translation in my country, so I made a little research.

[link]

She does seem to be human, born in the UK or in America, depending on which version of the story we're talking about. Apparently they were going to say the movie-version was half-human, but dismissed the idea.

Da-dee-da... book, film, tv show, book, book, "trilogy of five books", film, film, book, blah de blah...

This really annoys me that everbody just assumes the book as the canonical version because it's a book. The canonical version is the radio series. With HGG it's more important than ever because Douglas Adams refused to write it the same way twice. This can be illustrated with the towel. There isn't even a towel in the radio series, in the text-based adventure game it belongs to Arthur, in the book it belongs to Ford, and I assume by your picture that in the film it belongs to Zaphod.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Satsurou In reply to Fangobra [2009-02-11 16:19:51 +0000 UTC]

Technically speaking they all are written by the same guy (or strongly influenced like the movie) so I don't really care. In the movie, though, Ford has a towel, and so does Arthur, unless I remember wrong. Zaphod has a towel around in some moments.

Thanks for your two cents, though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Fangobra In reply to Satsurou [2009-02-11 16:38:27 +0000 UTC]

They were all written by Douglas Adams, the great British comedian.

And as for influence, Douglas had actually started scripting the film when he died in 2001. If he'd finished it it would probably have been completely different again.

nono, you stayed in character. it's just that i'm not around (or 100% familiar) with the hitchhiker's guide characters to be able to expect a sarcastic comment on something like that. you stayed in character, i just didn't see that comment coming, that's all x3 (i was REALLY tired last night...plus i tried to work on some homework last night that was due today...couldn't do it. my mind was fried when i sat down to take care of it )

Don't worry, the surprise would have been if you were I am pretty aware of the fact that... well, people with "weird preferences" tend to be specialized in just one or two of those preferences

Thanks for the compliment, though I appreciate that you took the time to look at it, and I am glad you found it funny too

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

chibiBiscuit In reply to Satsurou [2007-09-06 16:45:13 +0000 UTC]

It's kind of interesting, when you think about it, actually. There's quite a few who focus on a single preference... And then there's probably 30% or so show interest in two preferences (ex. many GTS fans are also BE fans, or Muscle fans). But it's kind of rare to find someone with 3 or more interests ^.^ It makes you pretty special

And I wanted to say this in the last comment, but I got distracted and forgot to write it- you nailed the characters perfectly for this ^.^ It could have almost been taken right out of the book

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Satsurou In reply to chibiBiscuit [2007-09-06 18:53:40 +0000 UTC]

People have lots of preferences Some GTS fans out there have a thing for GTS (obviously), but also for BE, SM (as in shrunk men, not the other one) and female bare-feet I am not that special. I am just weird because some of my main interests are SO not related to each other

Oh, and thanks again!

Thought as much. It's just that they're in the exact position in which they could be interpreted as teeth.

Satsurou In reply to giggle-water [2007-08-01 04:00:47 +0000 UTC]

[link] <==the marvin that appeared in the movie.

I got your point. You are right, they could be confused with some kind of teeth. But if they are fangs, then it means that the robot has no eyes; and if they are eyes, it means that the robot has no mouth. The second choice is more likely in a robot (no need to eat, but real need to see where it is, what it is doing, etc). Plus, in the movie it never ever, even when speaking, opened any kind of mouth.
