Ahaha. I've become more sentimental about the flag since I've joined the Navy, so I couldn't judge you about the bag no matter how you felt about it. (To me, the flag represents the people I swore to protect. It represents the men and women who don't get to go home to their families at night because we're providing hurricane relief in Haiti or getting shot at in the Suez canal while trying to escort a civilian ship to safety. I know, I'm super cheesy. The flag doesn't represent our questionable politics or crazy bigoted zealots like it used to for me. Idk. I can understand not liking it though).

I USED TO HAVE AN AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD MIX NAMED RUPERT! When I was younger we lived in the Netherlands (I mean, I was born there) and one of the few English TV programs we had was Rupert the Bear. So when we got a dog, naturally us kids wanted to name him Rupert! XD

because not everyone is a he or she :0! people can call themselves by whatever pronouns they feel best represent/match them (and there's a lotta pronouns/orientations!!) one's bodyΒ β one's gender orientation :0

"gender" is more than a social definition than anything else technically (to me anyways!!), andΒ not everyone feels that they are strictly defined by the more typical "he" or "she" :0 some people are neither, some are a mix, some are more one than the other, some are more one one day and more the other another day, etc etc, and the list goes way on :0 hence the need/want for more than just two sets of pronouns (that already come packed with stereotypes of what a person of that pronoun should be like)
keep in mind i'm not a social scientist so i may be way off base here, and everyone's experiences are totally different! this is what i've gleaned from mine, but someone else may have an entirely different explanation!!
