Description Sundowns Race Track 4/8/07

First race...when they were leading the horses to the gate. Not a great way to start the race!

EDITED: just wanted to say, horse and rider were JUST fine.

Do You Know How The Horse Fell ?

... yea? He reared up, lost his balance, and went over backwards.

Its awful when these accidents happen. A few weeks ago I was watching the racing on television and a gorgous dapple grey horse jumped over a hurdle, only to fall at the landing. The poor creature suffered from a heart attack and died... Its really quite upsetting...

Still, its good to know that both the Jockey and horse were fine. The image captured there is amazing!

Oh, I think I saw that one. Was it on channel 4? Terribly sad, and a real shame. Poor thing D:

Oh, what a bad fall... but the important is that anyone got hurt!

awesome shot! being a pony person I know how they must feel, lol. love the strap in the air

at the track recently they were saddling a horse who reared and flipped over backwards, and had to be put down...right in the paddock in front of everyone...it was sad

but, this photo is amazing.

Can you imagine being up there riding when that happens? Especially if you're that small on a horse that big. Do you live near the track? I've never actually been to a race before.

saudimack In reply to horsefancy [2007-06-16 17:48:46 +0000 UTC]

Yea, scary as heck. I can't stand rearing horses...bucking is fine, but rearing? No. lol

Yea I live about 20 minutes away from the track.

rapturesrevenge In reply to saudimack [2007-05-07 01:39:28 +0000 UTC]

A miracle indeed. I remember the tragedy before the 2001 Breeder's Cup Distaff, when a filly I loved and another mare reared in the paddock, fell over backwards, and cracked their skulls. The filly's owner tried to save her, and she responded well to treatment at first, but on the third day, she took a turn for the worse and was put down. The mare was put down at the track. I hate it when that happens.

No problem. In the future, could I ever use them for RPGs? You yould be put in the copyright of course. Something like:

Horse (c) saudimack / devaintart.com or something along those lines

saudimack In reply to aiedrail [2007-04-11 01:34:47 +0000 UTC]

Ah no. I really don't like my pictures being used for RPGs or manipulations. I've had too many of them stolen and people abusing the privileged. Sorry!

I like the guy on the paint horse. Him and the horse is like, "SHIT!" Makes me chuckle a bit. I love how you can see the jockey looking for an escape route. Love the flying strings. What are those? They're not reins....hmmm.

The leathers flying is what the lead pony guy was holding on to i think.

saudimack In reply to DashaRhea [2007-04-09 03:51:37 +0000 UTC]

haha yea.
Atleast the jockey landed on his feet, and the horse just kind of fell to the side.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DashaRhea In reply to saudimack [2007-04-09 03:53:04 +0000 UTC]

That's good to know. If he had landed on his back that could have ended up being pretty bad.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

saudimack In reply to DashaRhea [2007-04-09 03:53:56 +0000 UTC]

Yea. I was talking about that to a guy at the track. I've known a horse to rear over backwards, and have his poll hit the ground first before the saddle horn... killing him instantly

DashaRhea In reply to saudimack [2007-04-09 03:57:43 +0000 UTC]

Ouch Poor horse. Atleast he didn't suffer.
