Perhaps Tarrlok and Amon are half brothers through him

full brothers. amon cared about equality and when his father
a.) tried to mold them into weapons
and abused tarok for not being as ruthless as daddy wanted Amon came to the conclusion that his father was an asshole because of bending (His father didn't really treat them badly until they learned they could bend.) Tarlokk refused to join his father's son when he ran away because he didn't want to live without mommy, and as such amon felt guilt. so he transferred his own guilt for failing to save his brother onto non benders, and his own father onto all benders.

I personally think there may've been a leader of the Equalists before him he may've not been the founder and I believe it could've existed for some while.

Amon said that his face was burned as a child, so I don't think he's Amon. He may be Tarrlok's dad though.

I'm of the belief that the story Amon told at the Equalist rally was just that: a story. I have a feeling it was nothing but a sob story he made up to garner sympathy, but it could have some factual basis. While fighting Yakone, Aang, in his Avatar state rage, may have used firebending and struck him in the face, scarring him.
But I suppose we may know for certain after this week's episode.

I've noticed the similarities between Tarrlok and Yakone as well. Who the hell is this guy?

Your theory makes a lot of sense now that I think about it.
This dude, as well as Amon, is a mystery to me.

You got the bloodbending part right, at least. O_O
Oh, and very nice pic, btw-- I think you may be the first to actually draw the guy, haha.

My problem is this guy looked middle aged back when the origin gaang were still alive and Amon just doesnt seem that old. My personal theory is he's connected to tarrlock. They look kinda similar to me.

I'd estimate he was around 50 or so back then; perhaps 5-10 years older than the Gaang. That would put him somewhere around 90 years old in LoK. But as TLA showed us, older characters, like King Bumi, can still be quite tough and agile.
As for Tarrlok, it's possible they are connected, perhaps even father and son, if my theory about Yakone being a waterbender is true. Tarrlok could have joined the council with the intent of bringing down the benders from the inside. But, he became more concerned over furthering his own political power than avenging his father. If true, I can see him betraying Amon at the end of the season once he has gained full control over the city and becoming the main antagonist of season 2.

My theory is that Amon is Yakone's son, if he isn't Yakone.
So your theory states that Yakone was a former waterbender, "I see him as a former firebender." who got his bending taken away.... Oh well, at least he did something with his life, unlike some other characters, *CoughTahnoCough*
and now on to the picture itself, you did great at replicating the background during the flashback, and the expression is quite cunning. His face kind of reminds me of Javert from the musical Les Miserables. Have you heard of that musical?

Actually, Amon being Yakone's son is another theory I find plausible. I believe Amon may have been too young to understand why his father was imprisoned. Perhaps he never even knew he was a bender. As he got older, Yakone told him fabricated sob stories about the Avatar and benders abusing their powers and harming non-benders. From then on, Amon developed his anti-bending agenda to avenge his father.
As for Les Miserables, I've heard of it, but never actually seen it. Also did a quick search for some images of Javert and you're right about the similarities.

Personaly I think that if Yakone is Amon's father, then he died before his son was born, and Amon's mother "Who ever she is" forced her son to avenge Yakone.
As for the musical Les Miserables, you can look up videos of it on Youtube. I find myself comparing a lot of things to that musical, including The Legend Of Korra.

This is a really good theory, and it fit's rather well. The only problem is, so do a ton more! Amon could be anyone. I really want to know who he is. That, and I want to see Korra speak with Aang in the spirit world. I think that Yakone is connected to what is currently happening also. That may be why they kept info about him so obscure. Anyway, great art. I don't think I've seen a full shot of him before, but this looks like it could have come from the show.
