Jane didn't want Jack fighting around "naked". But honestly, I couldn't see her with a regualr armor, in Jane's little world! Though I think her additional costume in game was something like that too?

Anyway though, this is a recreation - the first attempt of something different would be seen in the comic and it's not "that" relevant.
