“Hey, wake up.” You felt something nudging your side.

“No- go away.” You rolled over and tried to sleep again.

“Fine, I guess that you won't get any ice cream~" he taunted. You perked up a little at the statement.

"What kind?" you mumbled.

"Whatever kind you want," you could imagine the smirk that would be plastered on his face.

"Wait- you have every flavour of ice cream?" you sat up to face him.

"No, we're going out to get ice cream," he sighed.

"Ears," you pointed to your head, where two little cat ears were sticking out of your skull.

"You really thought I would forget about that?" he pulled out a blue beanie from his pocket. You gave him a suspicious look, "You'll have to go out sometime, _______"

"Fine," you grabbed the hat and shoved it down to your human ears. "Better?" you said grumpily as he adjusted it.

"Perfect! Come on!" he grabbed your hand, pulling you to your feet when you realised something.

"Arthur- do I... by any chance... have a... tail?" you were scared to ask.

"Not to my knowledge. I guess you'll want to see what you look like with ears, _____." you shyly nodded. He changed your path from the front door to the nearest bathroom. You walked inside shaking. 'What if I look horrifying?! What if I have more than just ears?!' you stood in front of the mirror, not daring to look at yourself. You took off the beanie with a tremulous hand and brought your head up. There were two (h/c) ears sticking out of your head. You didn’t look as bad as you thought you would, in fact you looked a little…cute.

“I-I guess I don’t look that bad…” you looked at Arthur, who was leaning on the door frame, keeping his eyes on you.

“No one ever said you did look bad. Put your hat back on, and let’s go,” he ordered.

“Fine, Mister Bossy-pants!” you snapped back and pulled the beanie over your ears. You and Arthur left the bathroom, descended the staircase, and walked out the front door, grabbing your messenger bag as you left.

You walked down the sidewalk just a couple of feet behind him. After about half of a block, you could see that Arthur was trying to figure out how to slide in next to you in a way that you wouldn’t notice. He slowed down a bit, deemed that plan useless, and went back to his normal speed. Then he stopped completely so that you would pass him. You wouldn’t let him have his way (you were still a bit ticked about the whole ‘ears’ thing) and you stopped as well. He sighed and then continued walking. He stared at the ground in defeat for about ten seconds until his head shot up. He stopped again and swivelled on his heel to face you, a devious leer forcing its way onto his lips.

“Yes, Arthur?” you said amusedly, expecting him to try some other lame tactic.

“Well, Love, I was just thinking about being a gentleman, and I realised that I am not playing a good role as one right now!” he said in a matter-of-factly way.

“Really? How do you figure that?” you said in the same manner.

“Well, a gentleman always walks on the side of the sidewalk that is closest to the street. I should be walking next to you, protecting you from any harm!” he said like a certain American you knew. He had you beat. Arthur was being very truthful, and you didn’t know any way to avoid this.

"Fine," you sighed in defeat. Arthur moved so that he was next to you, a smirk still plastered on his face. You walked in an awkward silence until you reached the parlour. He stepped ahead of you, holding the door like the gentleman he was. You stepped inside; making sure the hat was covering your ears.

"So, Love, what flavour do you want? It's my treat- you know..." Arthur's eyes drifted up to your beanie, "Because of the accident," you looked at all of the different flavours they had.

"So many... Could I get (favourite ice cream flavour) please? And in a (cone/cup)," you said, looking back at him.

"Of course _______," he walked up to the counter" May I have one (flavour of ice cream) in a (cone/cup) and one chocolate mint chip in a cone?" (A/N: you have to have a different flavour then him, okay?) he asked. The cashier nodded and started putting together your ice cream orders. She handed them to Arthur, who handed yours to you. You mumbled a 'thanks' as he paid. “Come along, (last name),” he walked outside, where there were a couple of tables and chairs. “Where do you want to go to eat?” he looked at you.

“How about the park?” you tilted your head to the park across the street.

“Just what I was thinking!” he sounded strangely cheerful. You crossed the street to the park. It was a rather large park, with a pond, benches, trees, and a playground. You noticed a bench near the pond that was empty. It was near the sidewalk that went through the park, which might be a little annoying with someone walking by every thirty seconds, but it still looked nice with the pond right in front of it.

“Arthur! Let’s sit there!” you pointed to the bench. His eyes followed your finger to the spot and nodded. Having been only a few metres away from it when you noticed the seat, you quickly made your way over to it and sat down. ‘This really is the perfect spot!’ you thought as Arthur sat down next to you. He started eating his ice cream, and you followed suit.

“This ice cream is really good!” you exclaimed after a couple of bites. “How come I’ve never been to that place before?” you looked at Arthur and tilted your head to the side a bit.

“It just opened this last week. Remember, there was that pizza place there before that we went to a couple of times,” he stated.

“Oh yeah! That place was good!” you put on a cute smile, “But I like ice cream more!~” you could see the blush developing on his cheeks.

“You sound like a little kid, ____!" you could feel your cheeks heating up a bit, so you continued eating you ice cream. "H-hey... Do want to try some of this?" you looked at Arthur, who was holding his ice cream a bit towards you. You let your eyes widen a bit and you cheeks heating up even more.

"Sure... T-thanks..." you leant forward and took a bit that was small enough so that it wouldn't take away too much of his ice cream, but let you taste it. "That's pretty good! Want some of mine?" he nodded and did as you had. 'This is nice... Spending the day with Arthur as friends....' you looked at him and smiled. Then you felt a light tap on your shoulder. You turned your head around to see an old lady that you've never seen in your life.

"My I help you ma'am?" you asked nicely. Arthur looked at you and then at the lady.

"Well, I was just walking by and I just wanted to say that you two make a very cute couple!" she complimented. Your face felt as though someone had lit it on fire 'COUPLE?!' was the only thing that could go through your mind.

"W-we're not dating, Miss! We're just friends! But thank you anyways!!" Arthur said while he waved his hands in front of his face. You felt a sinking feeling in your chest that you couldn't really explain.

"Oh, I am sorry! But you should go out! You really do look cute together!" she said then walked away. Arthur looked at the ground, trying to hide his blush. You just turned your head away from him and continued eating your ice cream.

You both finished your ice cream in an awkward silence, neither of you daring to even look at each other.

"We can leave now if you want to, ____," Arthur said, finally facing you.

"Yeah, okay. Wait, one more thing before we go," you replied...
