Description I was looking at some photographs that ~17seconds had taken from a recent photoshoot, and really liked the pose she captured in one of the photos she was not planning on using from that set. I felt she really captured something, and it was a really inspiring shot to me. I'm not sure why she wasn't interested in using it, but since she wasn't I asked if she wouldn't mind if I used it as a reference for this piece. She agreed, and I want to thank her for doing so, as I'm quite pleased with how this turned out.

As always, your thoughts are appreciated. Pencil, watercolor, lineart done in Painter, and thanks to ~17seconds for the inspiration and the reference!

Wow... This turned out REALLY good. Honestly, I am VERY impressed with it. I LOVE what you chose to do with her hair and clothes and the expression on her face is very moving... you should really draw faces more often, your better than you think you are.

Great colors, texture and the tats add a very nice element to this. Outstanding job! FAV for sure.

Awwww! Thank you, I really appreciate that. Without the photo you discarded (I am a vulture aren't I?) this would have never been. I really appreciate you letting me use it as reference. The female form is something I am still far from mastering, so I'm extra happy you like the face as well...

Hey! I draw faces! They just happen to be hidden in shadow...

Yeah... that's what I ment. No shadow faces! More faces with expression... but not creepy like your old lady face.... *shudder*

Oh fuck man! This is bloody terrific! Great pose, perfect porportions and those tatoos and the dogtags really adds a fine touch to her. Gives her a personality and that little extra something. A slight thing on her right hand (her point of view) though. The one on the chair. I have to ask by the way, is the chair a photomanip?

Anyways, great job as usual. Actually, this must be one of the pieces I like most in your gallery now. Really really sweet. I mean it.

I really really appreciate that man. I'm quite pleased with it myself. I'm happy to see that those little detailed were not lost on a blind eye. What's wrong with that hand? You are correct, the chair is 1/2 painting 1/2 manip. Such artists as Mr. Mckean are inspiring me to try adding some photography to my art. We'll see how that pans out. Two of my good friends just got really really nice cameras. Hopefully they'll let me play with them and see if I can test out more of this... Thanks again!

The fingers, on the hand resting on the chair are a little too "stiff" I think. It's like the forefinger seem to be missing some joints. It doesn't really effect the impression of the whole image though. It's just me being picky

Thank you! The shine on the couch is actually photomanipulation that I worked into the picture... been trying to do new elements lately.. I'm glad you liked how it turned out.

Nice design and great colors. Very nice lighting.
How did you make the background, and the texture on top of everything?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ScabbedAngel In reply to MartinSilvertant [2006-12-16 21:02:29 +0000 UTC]

First it was drawn in pencil on watercolor paper where the pose hair face and clothes were changed, then.. painted with watercolors with a dry brush of acrylic to accentuate the brush strokes... that pretty much makes the background. Scanned. Lineart in Painter... and the slight overall texture was created with a scan of a polaroid picture that was heavily abused with a wirebrush.

The highlights on the leather of the chair were taken from the photo itself. Glad you like it.

Don't shoot the gift horse until you see the whites of its teeth!

Not really sure what it means anyway.

CraigInATin In reply to radiationboyy [2006-12-18 14:15:41 +0000 UTC]

Well if it doesn't have white teeth there no point having the dead horse. Its like, don't keep the fish until you know its a juicy fish. Except the horse one sounds better.

I'm not sure... what do you see?

Thank you The outfit was of my own design. Not bad for a man with little fashion sense Actually elements of the clothes were inspired by a japanese fashion magazine. Bits and pieces. Belt, braclet mainly. Corsets are just my favorite female piece of clothing to draw. I tried to make this one look... grunge alternative.

It seems like she heard something that's upset her a little while ago, and she's thinking about it. At least, that's what I see.

Agreed! You do have good taste. And I really do like the design on the corset!
