Description The Daily News

YOU HAVE DIED

Newsflash, you have died. Suddenly, to your utter dismay you just up and died. You were born on (MM/DD/19YY) and you bit the dust today. What are you going to do now? Where will you go?

Before you start to think about that, think about what you did in your life. You have accomplished nothing. You have made no difference in the world. You were nothing really remarkable in the time you spent here on earth. You were just another selfish human being, and now you're just another human being in a box. Maggots will crawl on your rotting flesh just as they do to everyone else.

There is no such thing as self-esteem, so get over yourself. You conformed to your society as they saw fit, and even if you tried not to conform, you conformed to the other non-conformites. You have no free will, you are a puppet sent to spend your money on things you dont really need.

You didn't even really like your life. You tried to visualize yourself into other things. You wanted to be in your fantasy land, the one where everyone loved you, and there was a definitive bad guy that you could touch and destroy as you saw fit.

Here's another reality, you are your own enemy. You are the evil. You have killed yourself. How does it feel?

With these new revelations, feel better in knowing no one cares that you died.

~Reporting live, which you will never again do.

I haven't read this before, but now I'm going to read others. In shortest terms, it's a wake up call to me.

lol it's one of my fave pieces that I've ever written. It's kinda old and I'd edit it a little but I don't want to lose any of the original style that I had when I wrote it in... what like 2004 lol

Aheheh. "Reporting live, which you will never do again." -nice little "neener-neener" at the end there.

All in all, this was very well executed. It's rare to see such skillful use of the fine art of sarcasm, especially when conveying such a message. I like this a lot.

And Nietzsche... definitely worth checking out. His ideas are incredibly important to the way we live today, as society becomes increasingly secular.

Felt very Nietzsche-esque. I don't have his quote with me but it went something like, "If a demon were to come down to you today and tell you that you would have to repeat this life with all of it's triumphs and all of it's failures a thousand, no, a million times on and to eternity, would you curse him for telling you that which you feared, or would you get down on your knees and cry in thankfulness for the life that you have lived?" Something to that extent, although this is a bit more negative because of the ending, (I can't really see it ending any other way though).

As is, nice work, I did enjoy the sort of obituary style aimed at the person who died.

I really like how this article bit by bit reveals the viewer's past and how it can be view through many angles.

You've touched dilemmas that everyone has to face and no one can escape. For example, conforming to non-conformities and vice versa; there's only those two choices so it's a lose-lose situation no matter how you look at it. But if the reader is wise, he or she will understand that once they are being brought out into this world, they have to play within established rules and there's no other way to get around it. So conformity will no longer be a choice but the only way to survive.

I especially like the fantasy land part, because everyone is guilty of that one time or another (especially when we're little kids). But then again, this fantasy land is a necessary part of human existence. Visualizing ourselves into other things is another way to establish our identity. For if we exist alone, how do we know that we are existing at all? We need to project ourselves into other objects and learn about them in order to acknowledge our differences, therefore, establishing our self.

Maybe I'm taking this from a perspective different from the one you want to portray (I'm guessing trying to value-lize the reader's life and bring regrets), but I'm getting the impression of someone trying to discipline their children or of someone (the devil himself maybe?) talking down to a soul ready to be damned and whatnot. If one of those are what you are aiming for, it's effective. However, if it is a person who thought their life through before this and had battled this trial of self-worth and values in life, then this article will have little effects on them.

I don't know what your original intent for when writing this article is; whether you want to end it in a negative tone or it just ended up that way (or the article is served as a punishment in hell itself). But as a reader, I think it would much more interesting if you somehow encourage the dead one to accept the vanity of his or her life, accept things that are beyond their control, accept their failures and then move on (but if it's the hell punishment case, this wouldn't work. I would suggest backing your claims with the "why" they are so and so).

Regardless, I like this piece (and your icon). That's my two cent. Thank you for sharing. [And my apology if this comment turns out to somehow be incoherent and a bit long.]

wow... *claps* i very much am impressed by your views. the ending: i was trying to go for uplifting, but i got bored and just ended it. i had the thought there, but i couldnt bring it to words.

you captured the piece exactly as i wanted it to come out.

i must say you are a very insightful person, and it makes me have some hope in mankind. lately that hope has been very much diminished by my watching the show Street Smarts... but anyway...

*hugs* thank you... you made my day...

I'm glad I got what you're talking about (sometimes my thoughts deviate from the actual point of piece). And thank you for the compliment. I stopped watching Streets Smart after a while because my throat got tired after yelling "ah! What has our education system come to!" at the tv screen (which I don't recommend). Hehe. I'm glad I made your day. Have fun!
