Impressive work.
Not a franchise I was familiar with before now, but I love the villainess's design.

Holy heck, I never thought I'd find fanart for this random, obscure toy line.

Unfortunately Galoob doesn´t exist anymore. I wonder who holds the rights to this toyline?

Wow! Love this piece. I don't remember the Golden Girl toy line at all. Which is a shame because this looks amazing. Wonderful work with the setting, and adapting the outfits and poses. Those expressions are great too. Always great to see your work. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

Well I must say, you did a spectacular job! The toys did not really have a story so much, just a basic premise really... the merest outline of one actually when you get right down to it. There were the good girls and the bad girls, a guy who was supposed to be the main girl's love interest and an evil counterpart to him on the bad girls' side (who had the most awesome horned skull mask helmet). And they pretty much all derived some sort of power from gemstones and each character was like the embodiment of their respective gemstone. It had to have been at least somewhat inspired by a comic book by DC Comics that was popular back then called "Amethyst: Princess of Gemworld" that had the identical premise but with a whole lot more depth to the story. The irony of the story in Amethyst was that the main protagonist was actually only a 13 year old girl but when she crossed over into the Gemworld she became an adult super-heroine named Amethyst whose power derived from that respective gemstone. It was kind of like Dune too, where you had all these noble houses, each named for their gemstone, and they'd fight, war, squabble and each attempt to gain power over all the others. The ending to the series was totally crazy, with a Lord of Chaos basically trashing all of Gemworld and Amethyst having to become a Lord of Order (should be Lady of Order in my opinion though) in order to stop him. The final irony was that the Lord of Chaos was a child himself called simply "The Child" and had this insane partner in crime named Flaw who was made of crystal. It was cool stuff and the ending was suitably epic! Me, I was only 13 years old back then myself so I really got into the story of those comics big time as I could totally identify with Amethyst as a character. I basically used to pretend that the Golden Girl characters were the Amethyst characters and tried to recreate some of their adventures from the comics. Lots of nostalgia for sure! So yeah, there is a lot of room for creativity when doing art based on Golden Girl since you can pretty much just take the characters and do whatever you like with them.

I'm right there with you, xxxecil! This was a wonderful toy line, and it actually pre-dates She-Ra. These figures were out in stores way before She-Ra's cartoon, much less the figures. It was a kind of "barbarian warrior line for girls" since He-Man was being so squarely aimed at boys. But marketing research showed that girls like the He-Man characters too and wanted to play along, so Galoob did a barbarian line for girls (with one token male figure on each side of the Good vs. Evil line, just like He-Man had one token female figure on each line).
Golden Girl (who, let's face it, should have been given a *name* just like Rubee, Jade, Onyx, and Saphire had) had a chariot drawn by a unicorn and a gorgeous palace playset all her own, every bit as big as Castle Grayskull, plus she and the Guardians had full-on fashions you could dress the figures in. I managed to get GG and 3 of the Guardians (never got my hands on Saphire) and I had the Forest fashions for each before the toys were just no longer on shelves.
Hell, even my brother preferred the GG figures to the She-Ra ones, and used to invite me to use my figures to play with our cousin and himself when we played He-Man. Even though the GG toys stood a little taller than He-Man figures, that didn't bother him, and he let me use the GG warriors to hold Castle Grayskull (in the absence of the Sorceress, who had no figure) against the forces of Skeletor and his minions.
Btw, idk if it counts as the sort of thing you are looking for since Scebiqu 's painting is SOOOO beautiful and beyond anything I can accomplish, but I have some fan art of my own of the Guardians here.
There is also my take on the GG characters as residents of the Star Wars universe. I know that sounds crazy, but there was a comic book in the 80's Marvel Star Wars run where Leia was stranded on a planet with a race of people who had technology, but still dressed in a barbarian manner. At the time, I remember thinking it was like some sort of Star Wars/Conan crossover story. Looking back at the story and seeing how much more red these human aliens were, I think it was inspired more by John Carter of Mars (the queen in that story does look a lot like she pilfered the comic book wardrobe of Dejah Thoris), but I was unfamiliar John Carter at that stage of my life and was more enamored by this entire Conan-in-space idea.
Later in my life, it occurred to me that if there could be "barbarians" in space, then maybe I could still find a way to use GG and the Guardians in my own imagination with the biggest obsession in my life at the time, which was Star Wars. So when my brother and my cousin were running around the yard with our toy blasters and lightsabers, pretending to be characters from Star Wars, they got to pretend to be all kinds of different guys, but I didn't have that option. Leia and Mon Mothma were the only two named women we ever saw. So, I added in a character of my own making, and then added in the Guardians of the Gemstones...who fought with swords, after all, so that gave me the option to swing a lightsaber.
I never got over the idea that the Guardians' planet, Argonia, could be located somewhere in the Star Wars Universe, and could be easily visited just like the barbarian planet where Leia's ship crashed. So, partly inspired by the GG fashion line, and partly inspired by the idea of the Argonians as people living in the Star Wars galaxy, I created this.

I grew up with a bunch of girls who watched the show along with their brothers, and we watched Transformers and G.I. Joe, too... And my younger brother was great about including me in his G.I. Joe and He-Man play, and he watched She-Ra and Jem & The Holograms alongside me. My mom was great about never telling us this show or that one (or this toy or that one) was "just for boys" or "just for girls."
I was actually a bigger Star Wars fan than my brother, too, but as I got older, guys who were fans were actually less accepting of female fans than they were when they were younger.
It's important that we teach our girls it's okay to like "boy stuff" and it's fine for our buys to like "girl stuff."

Secretly, I enjoyed the theme song for Jem and the holograms. My brother would've never let me off the hook if he knew.

I´v seen at least the first two coloring books on Ebay and the land of dreams is the second Find Your fate release, so there should, at least theoretically, be the first one, too. The books seem a bit harder to find than the figures it seems...
