Well my problem with the leg design is that it is a whole leg, not just say the part with the problems.
Although some element could be incorporated from the current design, a bit of leg brace for the upper part from the current design on the sides and the rest armour, and keep the part from the knee to foot. And the right hand could just be a gauntlet. why is he bold and not say with wild hair?

they even have both the exact same background story
many roman gods were taken from greek mythology but just slightly changed in detail and depiction
just some examples ...
jupiter - zeus
juno - hera
venus - aphrodite
neptun - possaidon
mars - ares
pluto - hades

They're supposed to be forges, from where I assume he builds his turrets from, but he apparently uses them like cannons also.
