Description One of the series of the photo shoot taken at the Leuchars Air Show on the 9th of September 2006.

A MK18 spitfire from the Aircraft Restoration Company caught during it's display, in the end this was the only Spitfire on the day as the BBMF Spitfire had technical difficulties and didn't fly.

Ron Dean flies the Spitfire MK XVIII from the Aircraft Restoration Company, Duxford. The MK XVIII is powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon Engine with over 300 being built, however it only entered service after the war seeing very little action. The aircraft was built in Southampton in the spring of 1945 before being shipped ot India. The aircraft was recovered in 1977 and has had numerous owners in the UK and the USA and now wears the colours of 32 Squadron after a rebuild completed in July 2000.

Great photo. My favourite plane is the Hurricane, but the Spitfire always runs it close, just looks so good. Again, nicely done!

Thanks and i went for this look for this shot as wanted to capture the 40's feel, plus the sky during this display was still mist. So black and white fitted it best

Thank you and the conditions on the day helped with the look as the misty sky meant no sky details and the light due to it meant this look was the only one which worked in the end.

Crisp clear detail of the airplane. I love the propeller capture.

Thank you it took a few attempts to get the right shutter and panning speed but got there in the end.

I was stuck though at the time this display was going on as the sky was still a bit misty. Any contrast only appeared later in the day with some clouds that formed after the mist cleared.

Yeah also one of my favourites as well along with the Lancaster and the Hurricane and was one of the main reasons for going at the weekend. As love the WW2 planes as just something about them that modern planes dont have at times.
