Description A scene from an animated series that only exists in my mind, based on a live-action series that lives on in everyone's hearts.

River Tam about ready to throw down with the darkness.

Many sincere thanks to all of you who continue to check out my work.

The last Slayer.

Before you get annoyed, remember what... or rather who... Firefly and BtVS have in common.

She looks so waifish and somewhat confused here, but yet ready to kick major ass anyway. I also like how the Reavers are all in silhouette here.

Looks like Danny Phantom (the reavers, not river xP)

well it depends on weather she feels like killing them all at once, or if they decide to line up nicely, one by one.

A cartoon would be a good way to resurrect the series for minimal cash (a main reason it hasn't been resurrected).

Yeah, I didn't realize what a hurtin' the movie took until I read it lost 14-15 million in the box office and DVD sales still haven't come close to breaking it even yet, and crap like Star Wars makes millions.

scruffyzero In reply to Doomhammr [2006-10-05 03:32:17 +0000 UTC]

I think there's been some misinformation there...the movie, DVD sales included, has done comfortably. Not a raving hit, mind you, but comfortably. The only problem is more priority is given to slop that'll most likely earn a guaranteed return in the opening weekend...("The Grudge 2", etc.) "Serenity" was not a box-office draw/win, probably for the reason that most people said "Oh, I want to see 'Firefly' first", and then, being people, never got around to committing to the series....The thing would be to get the word out there on "Firefly"...

Doomhammr In reply to scruffyzero [2006-10-05 03:41:06 +0000 UTC]

That's exactly why I never saw Serenity in theatres and that is why I feel the straight to video/TV formula might work for Serenity 2 if Joss gets around to it. Do you have exact figures? All I found is that the movie took 40 mil to make and only made 25 mil in the box office. I can't find figures on DVD sales. This wouldn't be the first time it took a long amount of time for a flop to become a raving cult hit (Blade Runner anyone?). I for some reason never got into the series when it was on TV, but fell in love when I borrowed my sister's DVDs.

This is brilliant. I love it.

Kind of reminds me of Samurai Jack. Combine that with Firefly, and you've got two of my favorite things. So I think it's great.

As usual--excellent job here. I just really like your style. Haven't been on in awhile and now I see this and it reminds me of Serenity, which reminds me of Firefly--and the fact that I gave my brother-in-law my boxed set for a gift and haven't yet repurchased a new set. I feel like I'm missing a limb or something. Not a good feeling.
Cheers!

argh...that can hurt. still, an act of goodness in spreading firefly through the world.....your kindness is a good example, though. hope that you get a replacement as soon as possible. thanks for stopping in, and hope to see more of you now you're back on.

I've never seen the show, but these all continue to be fun to look at.

You should take a few of your favorites of these and mail printouts to Genndy c/o CN (google for "Cartoon Network Studios", that'll get you the address as opposed to the kid-amusing site) for critique. Unless he's an utter bastard (I've heard no stories about him either way) it'll probably at least result in some critique and pointers from him. Maybe even some work, though LA's pretty full of skilled and hungry cartoonists these days.

definately works well
you dont see the reavers totally, only shadows, because people dont really think they exist, just fairy tales

I love it,
come to think of it, did we EVER see a reaver close up in Serenity?

scruffyzero In reply to rgnet [2006-03-04 04:39:37 +0000 UTC]

Not for more than a few seconds, I imagine....the "making of" book has some pictures of the reaver in make-up, but even still, I don't think any two look alike...

yeh, they're meant to be the 'freaky unseen' people.. and thing about them is that they're like the dark side of each person, so of course none would look the same. One person's dark side is different from anothers

me and my sister wish to comerate you on the creativeness of having his brain hanging out! I wonder why the Reavers havn't eaten it yet...

scruffyzero In reply to ReggieTuesday [2006-02-18 03:42:16 +0000 UTC]

that would be the question, wouldn't it? why don't the reavers just sit around and attack themselves, instead of flying across the galaxy to harpoon pilots, and try to eat their brains?

eyeballs. eyeballs are the truffles of the reaver world. often packed in gift-boxes, and usually covered in bile, so that they have to use the lid of the box to determine flavor. most reavers prefer the green ones.

personally, I think you've givin this too much thought. not that I'm complaining or anything. a good eyeball would make a lovely Valentines gift for your sweetheart. although I think lips would also be a thoughtful touch, but maybe a little overdone.
