Well franly I'm a noob at the icons too , these are my first sets ever. Just do what I did and read a ton of tutorials, it doesn't have to be about iconing either. These were made in photoshop so I just looked up various tips on how to get glass effects in PS. There is an online PNG to .ico conversion tool at punksoftware.com that I use to make them compatible with XP.

If you want to know specifically about this glass bubble effect I can hunt down the tutorial that helped me the most.

Actually it was the part about shifting from image to icon that had me stuck, but you've cleared that up. ^^ thanks a bunchies.

Oh, didja know, it doesn't seem like Internet Explorer has an option to change the icon. :S

Hmm I see what you mean about IE, I thought you could change it through properties like you change the recycle bin. What you can do is create a shortcut instead of using the icon as it is, that will allow you to change it. I know there has to be a way to change it otherwise but I can't remember at the moment ..

Oh, and more on the image to icon thing, there ARE programs that do this, such as Icon Developer, but I've found I much prefer this method because I'm more familiar with photoshop. Now I just have to hope that that online one is around for a while .
