It's pretty, but useless.

It's a beautiful design, but useless in practice except maybe for breaking over something's head.

You'd still be better off just breaking off the blade and using it like a hand weapon. Trying to jab it into the side of someone's abdomen would put too much pressure on the angle between blade and haft. With the blade being that broad, it wouldn't be any good for thrusting.

Nah. I'm pretty sure if in the hands of someone with extreme skills, it would be a useful weapon without needing to break off the blade from the handle.

Pray tell, who would use such a thing?
Even exotic weapons such as the Southwest Asian urumi (which is oftentimes more dangerous to the wielder than one's opponent, but incorporating immense momentum and irregular striking patterns) and the Central African Kpinga (with its irregular shape lending randomness to throwing arcs as well as an increased number of striking surfaces) have their uses with sufficient (i.e., years or potentially decades) skill, but this design seems purely ornamental and generally poorly balanced.
Even dismissing the logic behind wielding a standard farmer's scythe as a weapon, this design in particular has a lot of lacking elements for weapon design overall. The narrow point at which the main body of the tool meets the haft is a point at which the majority of pressure transferred in a blow will focus, and sufficient stress would likely cause the two sections to break apart. The haft itself is incredibly irregular in shape and lacks a counterbalance (which could be offset by a low handle composed of a heavier material, but detail shown on this piece does not indicate the material used) that would even give sufficient offset to an appropriately sized head.
I can't really discern why the head is so broad, either. Considering that the supposed blade silhouette is mostly convex, it shouldn't need support for a long, slashing edge such as in the case of a scimitar, dadao, voulge, or yanyuedao. There also appear to be long, hollow sections in the head that really only serve to weaken the overall structural integrity. The structures that resemble edges also seem to incorporate large amounts of deep notches, which is also fairly perplexing. Italian parrying knives (sometimes called "sword catchers") and trident-style main gauches share some design elements, but were primarily meant to only be used to parry and pin the longer, narrow smallsword of an opponent and to be used in tandem with one's own smallsword in a fighting style commonly appliqued to Venice. These were only ever used as a sidearm in accompaniment to an actual sword, though.
The piece in question seems to incorporate some sort of arcing buttspike, which was fairly common in some styles of European polearm such as glaives or poleaxes intended for use in pitched skirmishes, but the structure, again, is too unstable to support such a structure. Why are there even chains and strings connecting different sections of the piece?
Again, it's a fairly aesthetically pleasing design, but lacks elements that could be considered useful. If forged, I would probably marvel at seeing it on display in a convention or specialty store, but have no inclination to buy it over a simple Bec de Corbin or a Septum or Ranseur if I was feeling exotic. It simply isn't practical.

Well, that was a long read. But still, if it actually existed I'd buy it. I honestly wouldn't care if it's ineffective, it won't stop me from testing it on some rotten pumpkins or ballistics gel. That's all I've got left to say.

I think being killed by it is even better.

I'm sure that's what scythes are meant for.
Aren't we all forgetting that Izzy's going to be using this on her holiday retreat down at the farm?

Hooolehcrap I love the little extra swinging-blade at the end of the staff-part. Juuuust in case the big honking blade doesn't do the job.
