This is why I like your monsters. You wouldn't want to run into them in a dark alley, but they're also unspeakably hilarious.

The original "Junjo" is named after Junji Ito, the horror manga artist and roughly based on his manga series GYO, which involves, among other things, rotten sea creatures crawling out of the ocean on spidery legs and spreading a plague that more or less ends the world.
One of its most famous scenes though is the giant, dead, walking shark, whose sound effect for walking is written as "GASHUNK, GASHUNK." This is first seen when it breaks through a door into a house, and since it's not a sound effect used in any other comic ever again the internet decided it was specifically the sound of a shark breaking down a door.
Last year I wrote a top ten of Junji Ito monsters in my Halloween blogs!

I think the "GASHUNK" sound is supposed to be a mechanical noise. I can easily imagine the sound in my head.

well i actually knew about them, i just wasn't that interested in them at the time. i was more preoccupied by your top tens, biology articles and non Halloween related articles. by now, I've actually read them all, and that's what got me to follow your Halloween articles this year. also, for almost ALL of last year, i haven't had any access to the internet, so that's probably why i had missed it.

yeah i know, but all i'm trying to say is I've never actually followed your Halloween blogs before, because i didn't know you did anything special for Halloween. i used to focus mainly on your regular articles, until i finally got bored and checked out what Mortasheen was, which made me curious about some of the other cool things on your site.

I figure it's involved in the storage and dispersal of its noxious fumes! Not sure if there'd be another one on the other side. Probably not. I like asymmetry!
