Description "Devil Bird of Despair"

CLASS: devil bird.

The offspring of sloth and envy, this nearly boneless Devil Bird protects itself and its fellow birds by fostering doubt, guilt, self-loathing and depression, invading the minds of others and dredging up their deepest sorrows. During its psychological assault, it uncontrollably repeats snippets of dialog from the victim's past, speaking in stereo through its hollow shoulders. Focusing its power on a single individual, it can even plant self-destructive and suicidal urges. Its skin is black as coal, oily and ice cold to the touch, with a smell not unlike burned rubber. It moves surprisingly fast with a short, frantic shuffling, swaying its head from side to side as it scans for nearby minds.

I liked the older one better... but Bonnagander is still my favorite.

I tried to copy the older one as exactly as possible, just larger so it would match the detail of more recent monsters, but it's tough to re-create something perfectly. Proportions are subtly different, just enough to bug me

Where can I see the original?

The head is awesome. Reminds me of some puppets in a puppet show my mom took me to when I was real little.

I usually just take down the older versions, but it was literally the exact same pose and details. I just re-drew it bigger so the lines and shading would be finer.

And damn, I imagined it as a kind of dingy brown, but black is so much more awesome.

the description is very creepy. but something about his hat like skull, kind of lessens the creepiness, and makes him seem more whimsical. maybe a different shaped hat skull or something. just my opinion.

Well it's supposed to be whimsical
It's meant to give the impression of a shift guy who would hang out in an alley or something.

Also inspired a little by the demons in Heironymous Bosch's paintings of hell (so is Bonnagander and a couple other monsters), who often wore more modern-looking (at the time) clothes
