Description
A little Pokemon "game" idea I've had in mind; it's what I would like to call "Pokemon Racing." It works similar to a standard Pokemon battle in the sense that you can attack the other racers. However, dropping the opponent's HP isn't the only way to win; you can also win by reaching first place after completing all the laps. Slow Pokemon still have the chance to win, as Speed also has a chance to drop when HP does. For instance, a move that causes flinching like Bite can cause the target to slow down and waste time getting back into position, or even drop in place! However, there's a catch; actual attacks can only be used against those close in rank to you (4th can only attack 3rd; 3rd can attack 4th or 2nd; 2nd can attack 3rd or 1st; 1st cannot harm at all), although there are exceptions... In case any of you are confused, allow me to showcase a match for you all, starring LifeFlame the Tropius, Pakari the Flareon, Blizz the Zorua, and Midnight the Houndoom (as up to four Pokemon can participate at once in a race):
"Welcome, folks, to the Pokemon Racing League, where today, we shall witness a race between four good friends at the Figure Lap, a race course that's in the shape of a figure-8. And the contestants are: the male Flareon, Pakari; the male Tropius, LifeFlame; the male Zorua, Blizz; and the female Houndoom, Midnight! The contestants are lined up and ready to go and in 3...2...1...they're off!"
"Blizz gets a surprising headstart ahead the rest, closely followed by Midnight and Pakari nearly matching in speed, and LifeFlame flying not too far behind them. Midnight's Intimidate ability immediately takes place, dropping everyone else's attack power. But wait! Pakari suddenly lights on fire and rams into Midnight; he used Flame Charge, effectively boosting his speed and closing in on Blizz! Midnight shakes off the fire, and responds back with a Faint Attack, dropping him back on her heels. LifeFlame seems to be doing nothing, however; what's going on with him?"
"Nearing the intersection of the first lap, Blizz uses Haze and removes all stat changes, making sure Pakari doesn't get a chance to rush ahead so easily. Pakari this time goes for a Quick Attack, which allows him the exception to the rules and targets Blizz. Midnight uses Howl to up her attack power, possibly hoping to knock out her opponents faster. LifeFlame looks to be glowing for some reason, and suddenly unleashes Solarbeam, nailing everyone in front of him. Wow! What a move! Everyone else gets knocked back, allowing LifeFlame to gain the lead. And just in time, too; he crossed the lap in first place, with two more laps to go! Pakari, Midnight, and Blizz are not too far behind, and likely planning to get back to him."
"Blizz comes back with a Foul Play, putting him back in the lead. LifeFlame may not have much for direct attacks, but that still had to hurt a bit! Pakari and Midnight go for a Flamethrower/Smog combo, both moves super-effective on LifeFlame and have a high potential of putting him out of the race quickly. But hold on here; LifeFlame suddenly takes to the skies by using Fly, allowing him to avoid any damage! Talk about a close call there!"
"Nearing the intersection for the second time, Blizz uses Haze once again to make sure things stay 'even' within the playing field. LifeFlame has a hard time seeing within the temporary black fog, and tries to find a good landing point. He drops down and misses Blizz, but Midnight and Pakari aren't so lucky; even though it's a critical hit, all three of them lose precious time from the attack, giving Blizz the advantage and allowing him to finish the second lap in first place. With this being the final lap, every racer will give it all they've got to try and finish first. Even with the Zorua in the lead, it's still anybody's game!"
"Midnight tries taking Pakari out of the race with a Flamethrower of her own, but accidently sets off his Flash Fire ability, allowing Pakari to absorb the fire and transfer it into power, which he stratigicly transfers into another Flame Charge, straight at LifeFlame. It's a super-effective hit, and gets Pakari closer to Blizz's location! LifeFlame quickly uses Synthesis, recovering most of the health he lost."
"Nearing the intersection for the last time, it all comes down to this final half of the lap. Pakari starts closing in on Blizz, when Midnight uses Smog on Pakari, poisoning him and causing him to slow down for a brief moment before using another Flamethrower on Midnight. LifeFlame uses his Magical Leaf and targets Blizz, trying to drop him back down into place. His attack easily nails the Zorua, causing him to-- wait a minute; the Zorua keeps his pace from the impact, as if unaffected! The finish line nears, and every racer pushes for the end."
"And the winner is...Blizz the Zorua!! Amazing! Of all the Pokemon here, the winner is the unevolved one! That just goes to show how strong a small Pokemon can truly be, huh? Blizz and his Trainer, Roxan, take the prize of the gold medal, as well as the prize money of 2,000 Pokedollars. Congratulations!! Pakari earns the silver medal and 1,500 P, while Midnight gets bronze and 1,000 P. LifeFlame, despite being in last place, still gets the consolation prize of 500 P and a Potion. Tune in next time for another exciting race!"
