Asela is a male snow leopard who lived in the mountains close to the Tree of Life, and is the second cousin of Chuluun. Unlike his cunning relative, Asela is more of a big kitty, who is harmless and very much playful.
Asela was captured by Kian and held prisoner in the Handa, to use as a puppet king after their regicide and genocide was completed. However, Asela managed to escape, and warned the Night Pride off the Handa. The Handa had initially attacked Rani, who had left to give birth to her firstborn, Raaja, and was attacked by Kian's goons. While Rani was fending off well, she would have been killed had it not been for Asela.
