I've always drawn a lot because I didn't have friends. I simply just didn't have anything else to do. in 2012 I started getting friends and I slowly stopped drawing. it's only lately I've started picking up drawing again after only doing it once in a while, and that's because I now have friends that don't mind that I draw all the time, and they have characters or shippings that they want me to draw anyway xD hence the awkward drawings I make xD

I've always gotten into a lot of trouble for drawing, because people didn't understand me. I've been told several times that I'm "mysterious" even tho I rarely keep secrets, unless I've been told by other people it's a secret. The whole drawing thing and answering questions without hesitations always bothered people, and I've been told by many people I have to fit in or I just have to change who I am in general. I'm lucky to have found my current group of friends, because they don't try to make me into something I'm not, unless it's cosplay related XD

honestly, I think society doesn't accept artists very well. or it's more like "doesn't accept close people to be artists"
artists are not unti social or mysterious. they're just picky over whom they communicate with. and most people do not admit the talent of close ones, for example: mom would never think me an artist (not that I think I am

I don't think of it like that, all that consider me odd are people who never took their time to get to know me. They greet me and then immediately decide I'm insane (a teacher of mine thought I was a witch, no joke), while people close to me take their time to compliment my work or critique it. and to me an artist isn't just someone who draws, but a person who can make a living from it. I see a person who enjoys creating art simply for the joy of it, simply as a free spirit. That might be something with the word for "artist" in my language, because that is very limited, and only counts for people who make exhibitions and such.Β

Where I am, there was a mother or grandmother or whatever who had forgotten to take down a small kid's drawing when exhibiting art, and all these fancy people wanted to know who this marvelous artist was. obviously enough they were disappointed since it was literally just a kid's drawing. other than that, people here love all that... splashed Β paint on canvas with no purpose and defined figures and that kinda thing. Not a fan of modern art, but people here dig it. people who an actually draw or paint well have to find other careers because there's no interest in proper art
