Cool study in graphite! You have a good range of values here. It's a nice piece of work!

Have you considered smudging?
Look at the drawing through squinted eyes so the drawing becomes a bit blurry. If you want that same effect, use a cotton swab or a tissue paper wrapped around your finger and then smudge it. It makes the drawing lines disappear and looks more like the marker drawing you did.

Smudging is great! I did use it on the base shading on this one, but got lazy after that.
Anyhow… After I made this I found a new technique for blending. Moving my pencil in small circles creates the same effect and at the same time it’s easier to control the graffiti. Smudging sometimes makes it go unwanted places and can look muddy if not done carefully.

Thanks for taking the time to give me a constructive comment! I love tips, both old and new ones

Yep, that one works well with pencils.
I'm using charcoal mostly, and on small drawings at that, so I have to go through the muddy part.
And you're right, it does sometimes lead to unwanted places. I tried using a tissue folded in half today, with a piece of hard paper inside. It worked much better and more even for some smudgings like large flat surfaces. And you can also use the edge to make relatively small half-toned lines in the charcoal.

Nice I don't do charcoal. Don't like the mess it makes and I don't have the patience for it

But I should try to do something with pencil again soon. It's been to long.

Thanks again

This is actually SO hard to get the curves and depths and keep it all from looking wonky. Excellent shading and placement! WOW! At an angle. I am massively impressed!
