My friend brought up an interesting point the other day. If peppermint butler is evil, why do the Gumball guardians let me stay in the Kingdom?

This is just a guess on my part but I think there may be a kind of secret power stuggel going on in the background of the show. Adventure time has always been laced with some kind of mysterus back story that we only ever get glimpses of from time to time. Some characters have always been seen as quirky like princess bubble gum but we also know that she is also divuse. Lying and manipulating but always seemingly to be doing so for good reason. I mean we only recently found out that she is tens of thousands of years old but always portrays herself as only 19 and she seems to love her citations but she will sacrafy them so long as she has a part of then so she can grow a new one in her lab. With peppermint butter I'm guessing he is possessed by a powerful demon and is being controlled by princess bubble gum to keep him in line and out of trouble and that she ordered the royal guards to treat him like a citizen but to keep an eye on him. The reason I think he is posses is because we have seen him as a young but innocent candy citazin from the same recent episode were we also found out about bubble gums actual age. Now as for the power struggle idea, if we think back to older episodes there have been attacks on the candy kingdom noumerus times but some have never been explained they just happened like the deer episode. If you also look at the citazens them self you can also see a kind of hint of something going on. Ever candy citazens is always created happy and possative sure they have free will but they are never angry or having angziaty issues they can't or els they will blow up. But there are still dark and shady night bars with defiantly not happy candy folks and a kind of underground crime organization that for some reason almost never ever gets delt with. Something is going on in the candy kingdom and I'm sure peppermint butter has something to do with it. But that's just my guessΒ

wow that's way more in depth then I guessed. I just figured that since he's not harming the princess the royal guards don't bother him. But I love your theory. Adventure time is so mysterious and the characters are so well developed. When I first started watching the show I thought it was just another dumb children's show. I'm so glad my friend made me watch because now I am obsessed. I've watched every episode at least a dozen times, except the ones with the lemon grabs. I was fine with them until the black one ate the white dressed one. Then the who Lemon Hope episodes creep the hell out of me.Β
But because I've watched the show so many times I have gotten a real feel for the characters. I've been writing a story with both Ooo and Aaa characters together, most people like it because I understand the characters so well. Also because it's a romance story 
I'm going to start watching them all again and look for more hidden clues like the ones you've theorized.

ya sorry I sometime go over board on my conspiracy theory when it comes to shows. But I could always just be over thinking it and the actual reason's could be much simpler than I thought.Β
