I stopped shading like this, and I really should practice it more--with some neatness and control it can be very expressive.

(I doodle them kissing badly so often, and I needed something to get me off my ass WRT stagnation, so I decided "Who better to learn how to draw kissing with?" Originally there was the chance of other people's kissing, but nah. Not tired of these two yet...

I like the progressive shading, you're good at it Reminds me of the seeking god pic with the elephant, how the difference in darkness attracts the eye to different elements on that pic, creating depth

Well, it's not having as much fun as his other hand...

More seriously, I think the problem is shaping. I didn't capture the foreshortening to properly get the feeling they're pointing toward us, so they are just kinda stubby and ... there.

and yeah, that was my hunch, but honestly its a wonderful piece im proud to have it in my favorites
