Story
Kinda a quick summary of how they got to this point~
It had been a while since Eden had shown Junee publicly.
The mare had been sent off for training while she was in Australia, and Eden in the meantime had been riding in a few tours, it had been one after another for a while, she hadn’t been home in what felt like years, and honestly it probably was. In the meantime, Junee’s leader had ended the lease, now focusing on her younger horse which just so happened to be Junee’s first colt she had bought off Belle not long after the foal was born. Who knew the reason for selling the foal. Belle wasn’t dumb when it cam to horses but she sure as hell was petty. And with pettiness came a few slaps in the faces for the people around her, mostly being Eden.
When the lease ended instantly Eden jumped on the opportunity and sent the mare to a few well known facilities in Australia, just for more advanced training. The mare wouldn’t stay young forever, and Eden was not the top trainer, so the first chance she got the mare was sent to a few trainers she was comfortable working with her horse. For once, she swallowed her pride and let the mare train under someone who would pull out her full and true potential, especially after having noticed it in her successful dressage test in Fredensborg under her short time rider Carol. The first trainer she had been sent to was Hugo. Someone that Eden would actually admit she did admire in the equine industry which is a lot seeing as Eden was notorious for only admiring herself. Dressage training with the mare was what took the longest out of them all, though Eden was willing to give the mare up for extensive(and expensive) training with Hugo. It was exactly what the mare needed to get that final tune, and boost up into the higher levels where Eden wanted her for competing. Cross country and Showjumping were both disciplines that Eden felt comfortable training herself, especially seeing as Eden had the materials she needed for her and Junee when the time came for them to find that guidance she needed.
Eden finding herself on top of Junee at an upper level competition was pretty much reaching a goal that she had set for her and her mare since they had first become a team. The Australian Trials had come first, a few hunter shows came next and the mare was leased out on a basis Eden felt very out of control of. The past Year had it’s up and downs, with Eden struggling with a few horses, and struggling to find something that even slightly resembled the kind nature she had found within Junee. And after one year, she had failed. She had let Junee get pulled away, and when she finally got the beloved horse back she sent her to training, and felt like she once again was letting the mare down. So when the mare finally came home, Eden was beyond overjoyed. She was ecstatic with excitement. That would be the last time Eden ever let her beloved horse leave her in such a way. This horse didn’t deserve being thrown from stable to stable or the amount of stress she was put under. When she finally got on the mare for the first time in what seemed like years, she found her ride to be quite the same, except more buttons, and those buttons were something Eden was more than excited to re-learn in her own time. After that time came, she put it to test by entering their first show.
And so to the Netherlands they went, After Eden had a new dressage coat tailored and a nice new pair of dressage boots ordered in. If her and Junee didn’t look and perform the best, then it would be obvious that Eden was not the one in charge of what was happening, because they always at least looked their best when Eden was planning. They arrived on the grounds of the show after a few stressful days of traveling. It was always the worst part of showing. Having to travel, and fly.
But when they arrived the stress of the show scene was the only thing on Eden’s mind.
Did she remember her gloves? Oh there they were…
What about her hat? In the tack box, thank goodness..
Junee’s supplies? Check.
The first few hours were spent stretching Junee out, just letting the mare let the tension out after not being able to move around while they had been traveling. Her stall was prepared, and then she was settled in with her rug, her main nicely braided, the grain in her bucket and a flake of hay on top of a full bucket of water.
She would be okay for the night, right? Even if she was, it didn’t calm Eden’s growing Anxiety. It didn’t calm her until she came the following morning, seeing the mare half asleep as she was pulled from the stall, walked out and then fed once again.
Eden didn’t have a groom. She did it herself because if she didn’t, the constant stress of making sure everything was perfect wouldn’t be fair for both Eden, Junee, or the poor person who volunteered as Eden’s groom. There were very few people who she was comfortable and relaxed having around on a show day, so it probably was better off she was on her own now. She got Junee tacked up as well as herself and went towards the warmup, working through the movements of their test, Eden humming the song they would be dancing to. She seemed to relax, but of course stay on her game as she went through this all alone. She could feel the pain of an oncoming headache coming though. That couldn’t be good. She heard her name be called as a warning that she would be up momentarily, and when the moment finally came that she would be riding she moved towards the arena, entering with Junee’s powerful trot as they moved around the arena and then finally entered the dressage arena, halted at X, saluted the judge and started the course.
lets just ignore the awkward bystanders thanks
