The creators obviously like Pikachu more. Had I been calling the shots, Meowth would be in a three-some with Meowsie and Ash's mom in every episode whilst jerks like Ash, Pikachu and Persian could go fuck themselves and make a living by giving hand-jobs to Jabba the Hutt for all I care. (Sorry if that last part was a bit disgusting but that's what Dante would've given them in "Dante's Inferno" for having Meowth put up with all their crap over the years)

You know, I'll always wonder why they insist on bringing back Jigglypuff when Meowth is MUCH more well-known and far more popular...
And I'd love to see him slash up Pikachu.

if you think about it..it would make sense to put Meowth in brawl......I mean think aout it Pikachu started out as a normal Pokemon but he eventually became the most poopular Pokemon and led to be being Pokemons Mascot.....Jigglypuff was another popular Pokemon due to the TV show.......And Meowth beats every other Pokemon in popularity by Second place! so Meowth couldve just as easily been in brawl!
