Description
Full title: "White Rabbit Dressed with a Ruff"
Work from a sketch book, typically drawn while waiting, at the Dr.'s office etc., and finished at the studio. This one was an older drawing which was reworked into what you see.

I've been working on writing and illustrating one for about a year for Aladdin/Simon&Schuster (rewrites).
I'm also working with a couple writers (separate stories), no publishers yet.

Many years ago all my drawings, except for ink and brush drawings, were stiff and statuesque. One day I realized leaving the extra lines I make give the drawing movement and keep it from becoming stiff, most of the time.

Where do you get inspiration to make things like this? I mean where does the original idea come from?

Many times there is no preconceived idea or thought. I start off like a automatic drawing making random marks and lines, not really "thinking", until I see something in the drawing or an idea comes to me. For this rabbit I was drawing this way while waiting, which I often do and recommend to others, and the body took shape. Then I thought of Alice in Wonderland's White Rabbit. When I got to a point where I liked the shape and stance of the rabbit I finished it off in the studio with some acrylics and pastel (white and other colors).
