Description I actually did this a while ago but I just realized I never uploaded it for whatever reason (I haven't uploaded a lot of stuff actually...). My gallery has been so dead lately so I figure I may as well start uploading all the stuff I have in my stash.

Bob-omb from Mario.

Looks so shiny and real, nice job, your 3d models are crazy xD. Keep that up. Btw, can you animate those models?

Thanks! I'm glad they look real to other people (that's what I'm usually going for). And nah, I can't animate them. I'm no good at rigging.

I think it looks very nice. You should rig him and make him walk. I personally hate rigging, but I don't think he would be that hard to rig. OH! if you get him to walk around you should put in some particles for the spark at the end of the wick (you can do that in maya or in after effects.) Then in after effects you can make him explode.

Thanks blaze! I suck at rigging though.. I have yet to find a good, in depth tutorial for rigging in maya. Hell, I suck at TEXTURING. (believe it or not, the textures on my antique pots picture are all procedural textures. No UVs or anything because I can never get them to work the way I want them to and I can't find any tutorials that work properly.) TT-TT

I'd love to be able to rig and texture my models properly one day but I just need to find the proper instruction...

I actually have some video tutorials on rigging that a teacher at SVA made. They're for rigging a person, but the basics are all there. I can send them to you if you would like.
Now for texturing... I'll look through my notes (which I have to find) to see if I wrote anything of use or maybe I can look through my school's servers and see if I can find any more video tutorials. UV texturing is a bitch... there are programs out there to help make it easier like the pelting tool, but even then... that pelting tool is a bitch to use too. > I would suggest looking for plug-ins to help ya out in texturing because it's easy once the UVs are mapped properly.

Cool image. I never liked how they changed it to "Bob-omb" though. As if it needed a name. They should have stuck with "Ba-bomb." Not only did it look better spelled out, but it was a lot more fun to think of it that way.

haha yeah, I actually misspelled it as ba-bomb at first when I was typing out the title and description.

I wouldn't have minded.

maybe the eyes would have worked better if it was just a flat 2d papery thing.... lol...

maybe so, but that would've taken more time than necessary because I'd have to draw it out in photoshop and then UV map it. Plus, from the references I looked up, most of the original bob-omb pictures had physical eyes like this too: [link] [link] and the one that I sort of followed more closely [link]
