Description
Time for some more Japanese style Pokemon paintings. This time I painted the three legendary birds of Shamouti islands, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres. I also took pictures of the painting process for a tutorial which should be up soon.This was a pretty nice one to do. I love drawing birds and it was so nice to draw these three. I really should draw a picture of Moltres later, that Pokemon deserves more love. I especially like the poses of these three.
Each Pokemon is placed over the island they rule and the islands are in the same order as they are in the anime. They all seem to be focusing on the sea below them. This wasn't intentional but I think it fits because they did attack Lugia together. Maybe they are waiting for Lugia to appear. Who knows.

Yet another excellent Japanese-style pokΓ©mon piece! I certainly don't blame you for loving moltres - those flames are gorgeous. Though I probably would have either made moltres's wings a bit more spread out, or put its tail (beautiful as it is) behind the mountain. This version kind of looks as if it's perched on top of its tail and looks a bit awkward.Β
Nonetheless, I adore this entire painting, particularly the proudly blazing phoenix.Β

If I remember anything about doing this piece, Moltres was probably quite difficult to fit in. I tried to give each bird as much space, but with Moltres' spreading flames it was quite difficult to fit it in and I didn't want to have to cut its wings or tail. Traditional art doesn't come with the luxury of scaling things but I think I could do this better now.

If I could, I would definitely order a print of this. It's extremely lovely, and my college dorm definitely needs some more wonderful art to spice up the walls.
