The artist here has down an amazing bit of work with the night sky, while the lighting is above the average work people would put into their art. The character's structure is good and well proportioned, though asking for a more dynamic pose just to spice up the dish...then again, that's what the moon is for. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/m/m… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Meow :3 - "/>
My only complainst are in the sense that the trees are too green, the water too robin's egg blue, and the earth too brown, it's night time so such colors should be shaded with blues and pale whites. Even so, the piece shows good feel for texture.

In conclusion: Color is always good, but with the changing of season, weather and time of day must the artist's palett also change in order to become that much better than it would be had that same artist stuck with one variety of colors. First off, I need to say I don't have the same style, so I'll keep that in mind while critiquing it. lol

I like how everything's done and put into the picture. I can also tell you have a decent understanding of anatomy.

Since you've said you just kind of doodled the background, I won't really go into that. But just for a tip, you can probably fix it easier if you use the same kind of outline as the focus of the picture (or get rid of the lines).

For the sake of getting critical, his right paw is a little awkward. You made it a bit more defined outward than it should be, which is a very common mistake. Also, there are some lights on his body that don't seem to be coming from a source (which would be the moon), like his left thigh. This also includes his eyes, they should probably be a little darker.

Okay, here we go ^^ Let me start by saying that this drawing shows talent in many domains but still has one or two flaws.
First of all, the anatomy of the animal is perfectly respected. The fur is also really well done : not too much "fur" lines. Just where it's needed e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)" /> The shading on the animal is also really clean and looks really good.
Concerning the background, the rock is really great and full of details. Nothing negative to say about it. I also like how you did the clouds. The shading on them is quite good.
To come to the coloring now, one thing came to my mind when I first saw this : it's really vivid and makes it stand out from other drawings. The dark tones here are really superb. The sky with the stars and the moon are also great ^^. The coloring is really the best part in this sketch.
However, the forest and mountains contrasts quite a bit with the rest of the drawing for the simple reason is that they seem a bit blurred, witch is really not a problem. But making a half blurry background such as this one would normally involve that the whole background is half blurred. And here, you did a beautiful sky and a really clear moon. So that's the only big flaw I see with this drawing.

Overall, despite the minor background flaw, this is really a very worthy drawing. Many kudos to the artist ^^

I'd like to say that this is my first critique, so I am not that experienced e.deviantart.net/emoticons/w/w… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title="Wink/Razz" />
I'd like to start out saying that this caught my eye when I was looking at it, and its a very well thought-out piece. The shadows and lighting are perfect, and the anatomy is very beautiful and correct. The moon and stars create wonderful emotion and feeling, and its a wonderful work of art.

I do notice however that the clouds could be shaded and lightened more, but thats just personal preferance, I guess you could say.

The foresty background does look normal from a distance, but close up I think it looks a little bit too rushed. Maybe include more detail there? Also the river could have specks of light or something to make it look more like water.
