Meet Otag, a Shadow demon that takes the form of a cat.

The story behind him and Faorn goes as follows:

Faorn wasn't very good at magic, he'd struggle in lessons and mispronounced words. While the teacher would help him by offering tutoring lessons, he was mocked by a small group of more advanced spell casters.

When one of them embarrassed him in front of his parents, Faorn had finally had enough a d wanted to prove himself worthy by summoning a guardian. He grabbed one of his fathers spell book and searched for one that he understood, then to more advanced until he saw one that caught his eye, he couldn't read the language it was in but understood what he had to do.

He drew a circle in the ground along with gemstones of various colors. He read it out loud and could suddenly feel a sinking feeling of dread as the circle and stones glowed and floated around him. A long tail came out of the middle and slashed an "X" mark on his eye, causing him to feel nauseous and pass out. While he was unconscious he "dreamed" about meeting a small black cat that went by the name Otag. He thanked Faorn for his summoning as he would describe that he couldn't take another moment in his boring and bland home in hell, and f
In exchange for little of his magic, he would become a guardian for him.

As he woke up from the dream, his father asked him what had happened, as Faorn explained, his father told him the spell he used was a shadow demon curse. Faorn was embarrassed to find out he had cursed himself, but assured his father the demon wasn't planning on draining his life force.

About Otag -

While yes Otag may have a few of the mischievous parts of being a demon, he acts like a teacher to Faorn on how to master various other elements of magic. When he used to be alive, he was a master mage that died from a dragon attack he was unaware of.

He can attack enemies by forming his tail into a blade to attack long range, and use his claws and sharp bite for close range.

In desperate situation, Faorn will call out for a Shadow Merge.
This is done by Otag absorbing a large amount of magic to merge with Faorn's soul and create a beast form of himself. While in this state Faorn is unable to think for himself and is completely under Otag's control.
