I love the way you have integrated the creature (not exactly a deer) into the woods (not sure where one ends and the other begins), along with the tiny figure of the forest, and the deep bond of love between the two.
As pearwood said, perhaps neither one is the "wandering spirit" but rather the merging of the two into one. Perhaps they are simply two different reflections of the same spirit?
