I always have found it odd that people are shy on the internet. Why be shy on a place you can hide your face? Perhaps it is the newsmedia, making the internet look like a horrible and dangerous place. In my opinion a 'socialising bar' with alcohol is far more dangerous than the internet, where meeting people in person is a choice, and you can just block people..
I've actually had people block me instantly because they were paranoid of me just because I was being friendly. Talk about going overboard!
