Description Okay, so I guess I've been really into moose lately; don't ask why. o_O Anyway, I had started this awhile ago, but didn't really feel all that inspired to finish it until today. As usual, there are certain things I'm happy with and things I know need improvement.

Photoshop CS2 and wacom.

Thank you! Haha, it's a rather old piece of mine. I have yet to see a moose in person, but I'm really hoping to someday. I'd love to get good references of them. My family and I went to Yellowstone in 2009 and we saw everything except a moose.

Aw! Poor you! We were supposed to have 2 weeks in Yellowstone, followed by 2 weeks in San Diego, we just had to do a 2 day stopover in Paris after Birds in Art, to see some galleries, and then I was going reference hunting. I was gonna shoot every branch, bug, beetle, bear and buffalo I could find! But some lousy swines flew planes into buildings while we were away, and we couldn't get back in! Plenty of people had it far far worse of course, after all we were stuck in Paris, which is a nice place to be stuck, and thanks to insurance we could upgrade our room and visit some of the city's finer eating houses, but there weren't no animals! (although I did get some Titmice near Jim Morrisons grave). I was dying to see Moose, Bear, Pronghorn, maybe Cougar, and a shedload of birds, I saw airports full of frightened people instead!

No Mooses in MN? What about up north? Still, you be careful near them Mooses! They's mighty ornery critters!

Ack, that's no fun! Granted Paris is a beautiful place to be stuck, as you said (I've been there twice on school trips). But Yellowstone was quite wonderful--I really want to go back there someday. At least you were able to find something nice to photograph, even if it was just one thing. When we were there, we saw tons of buffalo (naturally) and pronghorn, three grizzlies, eight black bears, a bunch of elk (including a large bull content to graze an uncomfortable 20 feet away from us or so), some coyotes, and even a black wolf (he was very far away, though). Like I said, I was very content with the animals we did see, but I never saw any moose--even as we went through the Tetons.

Up north I know there's a small-ish population, but I think there are some disease issues with them for some reason. I live in the southern half of the state, though, so it would be a 5 or 6 hour drive one way to get there. However, I still plan on making a trek up there when I'm able to afford it! Haha, and yes, I've known/been told about them many times. I hope I have a really long lens by the time I'm able to see one.

Aw, I so want to paint Elk, stunning animals, such wonderful shapes and lines. For some reason there seems to be very few in Australia, they must be really good at hiding!

Definitely my favorite cervine, I'd have to say. I'd love to see you paint one someday--it would be a stunning piece. I didn't realize you had them in Australia.

Hehe, I was kidding, We have some Red Deer and a few Spotted all introduced, but no Elk. A bit warm I think, I would love to do a large picture of a bull bugling in the snow (I know its been done, but maybe front on from a low POV), but it will be a long time before I get back there to get ref shots. Ah well, one day!

Haha, you got me there. I was really wondering about that, but hey, I've never been to Australia. Even if it's already been done, it's never been done by you, and each artist brings something different to the table in that respect.

Hehee, this is true. Ah well, he's got a big pair o' antlers to defend himself.

Could be, but if he's not the real boss, I'd like to see you go and tell him that!

Gryphonia In reply to ShaleseSands [2009-03-16 16:17:59 +0000 UTC]

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...I WILL!!!!! Just let me go and fetch my pet wyvern We will go together Should have gotten him something to eat ages ago And then there will be a new boss

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ShaleseSands In reply to Gryphonia [2009-03-16 23:01:42 +0000 UTC]

Well then, I might have to go get Xyphero. He'd know what to do to ensure the boss of the lake would stay where he is. (Then again, I'd have to coax him an aweful lot to make sure he doesn't snatch the moose himself, though. )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gryphonia In reply to ShaleseSands [2009-03-16 23:35:20 +0000 UTC]

I have a feeling we might want to keep both eyes on them. Who's your Xyphero? Sounds intriguing...

This is true. Go look in my characters folder; he's meh dragon.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gryphonia In reply to ShaleseSands [2009-03-18 15:45:17 +0000 UTC]

As I suspected, the maths will be simple here...
1 dragon + 2nd dragon + moose = 2 bosses of the lake

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ShaleseSands In reply to Gryphonia [2009-03-18 22:45:51 +0000 UTC]

Hehee.^^
I can see how that works. Good thing I understand simple math. (Though I wonder if our dear moose friend does. )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gryphonia In reply to ShaleseSands [2009-03-18 23:17:06 +0000 UTC]

He'd better do! Otherwise, his rank will go from 'boss' to 'crunch-lunch' soon

ShaleseSands In reply to Gryphonia [2009-03-19 00:38:40 +0000 UTC]
