Description
I did this for #Design-A-Character ... the "Gender Change" Challenge. So we had to take an existing character and turn them into the opposite sex. This is the "girl" version of Carl Kolchak... now known as Carla.Long before X-files, Dead Zone, Millennium, etc. there was Nightstalker. I loves me some Carl Kolchak, TVs original Paranormal Investigator brilliantly played by Darren McGavin (of Christmas Story fame). For those of you not familiar with this awesomely campy 1970's TV show... here is some info: [link]
I tried to keep as much of Carl's iconic look as possible, but feminizing it and keeping the fashion era appropriate. Think it turned out pretty good, I can almost see the back sweat from her polyester leisure suit. LOL!

P.S. I had to do a lot of searching to find out what the camera was Carl used... there were a few but this Hasselblad 500 was the coolest looking.

Of special note, the hair and earrings are super-ridiculous-Seventies, I approves... I am a huge Kolchak fan in any possible combination and this? This is what Changing characters is all about, messing with details while staying true to the spirit of the character. Nice Work.

It's worth mentioning that a Hasselblad was probably also the most ungainly option. Actually for vampires a rangefinder would probably be the best option: no mirror, at least on the viewing window. Anyway I'm amused.

It's really only a problem if you want the vampire in focus. Hey I'm the kind of geek to have thought about these things.

I'm a huge fan of Kolchak. I have been for years.
You did a great job on the female version.
The camera is fine and looks great. The type of camera he used was an Instamatic with a four sided flash. Very 70's

There are a couple episodes that he doesn't use the Instamatic... its this weird camera that he has to look down into to take the photos. I found out it was this Hasselblad thing...

It was totally wrong for a reporter. The Hasselblad makes more sence

I remember catching a few episodes of this show on the SciFi channel (before they inexplicably changed it to "SyFy". UGH!) and I couldn't help but see it as Ralphie's dad vs. the monster of the week (which made it that much more awesome).

Yeah he uses the Instamatic for most episodes... but in a couple he is using a Hasselblad camera. Thats the one that always stood out to me, probably because of the way he had to look into the top viewer to take the picture.
