because it doesn't matter that we know the show is called Doctor Who, because it doesn't matter that we know about timey-wimey and rewriting time, because it doesn't matter that it makes no sense for him to die....

this scene was still SAD.

...for Impossible Astronaut, series 6 ep 1? if you haven't seen that ep and haven't read or heard anything at all about it...yes, I would suppose that would make this a bit spoilerly...

but there's a LOT of art about this scene and other, even more spoilery ones around...be careful.

I agree exactly - I knew that we would see him again and everything, but I was still so upset. I thought Karen Gillan did an awesome job though.

I was startled, which was weird since I knew there'd be a death and had long suspected it would be the Doctor...but that funeral thing threw me somewhat because Moffat said there's be a funeral and the person would be properly dead and I was like "...but then it can't be the Doctor..." but when that happened I was actually too surprised to even be properly sad. It wasn't til the second watching that I was all sad about it.

see...and I am no judge of acting, I know that, so I usually just don't even have an opinion, but I found parts of Karen's acting in that scene kinda off...and others spot on. from what they said on confidential it's probably just that I'm used to her >i>acting so that seemed normal to me but the parts where she was just genuinely upset and really crying might be the ones where I was like "...this is weird" since I'm not used to her just being sincere...if that makes any sense? I know I'm rubbish about acting though, so since everyone says she did well, I assume she did....

I get what you mean about Karen Gillan - there was kind of this slight awkwardness about the scene. but when you seriously think about it and how much acting experience she's actually had, I'm reasonably impressed. it doesnt matter how good you are, it's difficult to really throw yourself into a scene like that. I don't know too much about acting either, but I did try it once, so I suppose I really appricate how hard it is.

haha, well, I love her regardless. And she does a good job with the stuff that isn't there--CGI stuff they put in later. That must be really hard.

yeah, she's actually quite convincing. with pretty much all of the DW actors I very occasionally think "yeah, they're not really looking at/hitting/whatever-ing that. but I never think that with her.

yeah, most of the time I don't think about but sometimes I remember "...oh...that person is actually in front of a green screen reacting mostly to directions shouted at them...wow"
