Because I love Leonard 'Bones' McCoy, and he needs more love. He is definitely one of the absolute coolest characters on Star Trek, and De Kelly I believe was underrated for his awesomeness playing the role.And because, frig it.
With everything Bones has had to deal with while serving on the Enterprise, it'd take a hell of a lot more than an apple to keep him at bay.
Just killing another myth about Doctors- this one's got gall.
So, here's to you Bones.

He was such a delight- I'm glad we can see him whenever we like in TOS.
They don't make shows that splendidly awesome anymore.
There's too much glitz and not enough character love.
Back then, they had to make due with what they had with props- and up the quality with the actors, their performance, and how people took to their characters.
Kirk, Spock & Bones definitely set the bar for well loved characters, and it's definitely thanks to the chemistry of De, Shat and Nimoy that they are so well received. ^_^

YES. McCoy looks positively dapper here. And you are right, the dear doctor doesn't get enough credit. Who else would tick off Spock? Who else would get hypo-crazy every now and then? Who else would talk some sense into those crazy people!?!?! The ink and charcoal is BEAUTIFUL btw. The little splashes of red here and there really add to the picture. Wonderful.
